Should be as it was classed as an Elite summer sport last year

Double standards if not....

Would be a first for any Government to GIVE anything to speedway racing.

Even in its heyday all they did was impose punitive entertainment tax on the sport that nearly put it out of existence.

On a hypothetical note....can you imagine  what BSPL would do if they received anything from this fund ?

Hypothetically,  If there is to be any Govt funding, why would it be assumed that it would go to the BSPL rather than say the SCB or ACU?

If it goes to the SCB then the difference is barely distinguishable  - if it goes to the ACU then Speedway wont see a penny of it .....

IS it a grant or a loan?

The impression so far is grants but the proof is in the pudding as they say

Cricket Horse Racing and Tennis .

Cannot imagine that any grant would go near the BSPL or SCB  for speedway racing - where's the accountability ? ... there's no attendance figures, there's no business accounts, no fixed assets, no contracts with riders once the season ends. Difficult to prove any "actual losses"  incurred due to Covid .  One assumes all the "staff" have been furloughed and 2 lorry loads of shale can be reused this season. Doubt the self employed riders have been paid a cent last season.

The owners of the stadia used might have a stronger case as they have suffered actual loss of income due to unpaid rents.

Is there attendance figures for the three quoted sports? Business accounts are abailable from Companies House. Some clubs will have Fixed Assets e.g. machinery.

Under declaring crowds, not declaring correct vat etc etc, I’m sure the promoters were not as bad off as they made out.

Maybe if there is any money it will be left to the Parliamentary Group to decide how it is allocated?

Speedway is still away from the limelight re Sport in Britain.

I would be amazed if we received anything from the govt.

The limelight was wide enough to encompass Speedway as an Elite professional sport last year so that it was prevented from happening....

I understand you scepticism though
