Premiership junior league

2 home & 2 away fixtures + maybe a final.

Is there any real point to this?

The announcement is not even sure how many races will make up each fixture. Surely they should have sorted out how many riders are in a team and the race format before making the announcement?

Can see advantage of regionalization, but would have preferred home and away twice.

Anything that increases the number of rides juniors will get has to be a bonus.

More track time equates to faster progress.

I read that another way... didnt he say clubs would run junior races as much as possible even if there wasnt a junior league match? That was what I thought the 3 or 4 races was referring to...

I also read it as meaning that the junior league is for the lower NL riders who arent doubling up or on the rising star list. So I'm guessing this is a level in between the current Development Leagues and the NL. That wouldn't be a bad thing, its just a shame about the nomadic teams that will be missing, and the resulting reduction in team places for those trying to get in the NL.

It's a good idea in it's self But the question is will the riders support it. Racing for little or no reward on Monday or Thursday is a stretch if the riders or their traveling party have jobs to negotiate around

Certainly sounds like a way of bolstering the shortfall in rides for the lower starred NL riders who have very few meetings already. That said i can't see even those turning up and racing in a second half for nothing. Nothing says closed shop like offering rides to riders who already have team places but it will at least give the chance to trial the new NL formats.

IMO the idea smacks of a quickly drawn up back of a fag packet plan to make up for the balls-up of telling the NL how to run their businesses

What happens if the Senior fixture is rushed through due to weather and subsequent junior meeting gets rained off?

1) the paying public feel short changed (again?)

2) the junior riders miss out and wonder why they bother?

3) the paying public wonder why there was a 25 mins interval between the meetings.

And a load of track grading or long pauses between re runs. All the usual garbage which people are fed up with.

Probably the opposite to what happens if it's a sunny night, the senior fixture is completed without delay and the junior fixture goes ahead as planned.

Sunny night usually leads to a delay as the sun sets on the wrong part of the track.....currently the junior riders are easily dismissed as they are riders without team places the new setup appears to be utilising riders who have NL places so these will be far less quiet about any cancellations are far less likely to return (or indeed lure there midweek in the first place)

apologies for not finding the negative - will try harder in future.

A competition - no matter how limited - has been announced which will provide extra track time for those riders who want to, and can, utilise it. Potentially the weather, injuries and delays in the preceding main meeting may restrict or even lead to the cancellation of these races. Alternatively they may not.

These opportunities did not exist in previous seasons. It seems like a good thing ... you and many others may disagree.

The World might end tonight (or on any subsequent night ... or day) - which could lead to the postponement of the Premiership Junior League.

:t:Then again it might not.
