Why do all these meetings take place at the weekend and when should Berwick, Leicester and Eastbourne race when these meetings are taking place?

Interesting question....just who do the FIM and FIME think that they are, daring to have their meetings at weekends? Don't they know that we British have three teams, yeah, count them, THREE teams, who these pesky World and European tournaments interfere with. How dare they! About time the FIM and FIME got their priorities straight. Because WE say so, innit?

The Speedway Tavern is finally back in our refurbished all-new studio tonight. Hallelujah! Its been difficult to keep the show going on Zoom which is why our shows have been sporadic, but we are back now (Covid willing.) So on tonight's show we have Peterborough rider and Brummies number 1 Chris, Bomber, Harris.

Be sure to tune in to ask YOUR questions.

Spot on....

And in reality that is SIX teams racing on Saturday nights..

(Unless any of the above race against each other obviously which lowers it a bit)....

I presume the FIM/FIME seem to think that by publishing its calendar well in advance, that this should be sufficient for UK promoters to use common sense and work around it, and not race league meetings needing Guests on the same nights which destroys the credibility of the league?...

How very dare they come to such a conclusion, don't they know how Speedway is ran in the UK.. ...

NB: Maybe we could run more meetings on Fridays?

Oops. Forgot, we once did that and it wasnt 'universally' liked was it?;)

Not sure what all the fuss is about Broc Nicol guesting?

He only scored 4 points against Berwick riders? Had we had a weaker 'rider' in his place, it would have just meant that the on form Jack Thomas would've most likely had an extra 2 rides?

IMO- it wasn't the guest situation that won us the meeting...it was the unfortunate withdrawl of Etheridge and what looks like a poor performance from Gappmaier?

Not to mention some inspired riding by our lads !

Well done LR ....great choice of guests:t:

No ones disputing the fact you deserved to win, because you did, 100%, just that we are on the first meeting of the season and there’s guests being used because your rider can’t turn up, and your team manager lying about where he is to get a guest rather than no facility

A bit unfair to blame the manager?

His job is to win a speedway meeting. He should be getting credit for a great away win and a great start to our season.

If we shouldn't have been allowed a guest, then it should be the BSPA that need addressing.

Having said that, we still would have won if you take away the four points that Nicol scored against a Berwick rider?

It all comes down to either wanting to see a competitive meeting, or is it just about winning?

Lets face it, Berwick are going to lose a fair few more home meetings, guests, or no guests......

Probably wouldn't have batted an eyelid, had the boot been on the other foot.

Can't disagree with any of that. Berwick will struggle with the current seven.

However it is probably a economically viable side and will keep the club afloat.

Funny no one has mentioned the fact that Berwick have a rider named in their 1-7 that they have no idea if/when he will be allowed to travel and enter the country, but that's OK.

Teams in the same situation have made changes, so no need for R/R or guests.

Never even mention that there was an issue with Garcia till the Teams we’re announced 2 days before match.Maybe they were trying to smuggle him into the Country:P:D

Not against that, but if we had to go down the road of replacing Coty we have about 6.18 to play with. But as we are seeing there is not a list of available riders to choose from.

Here is a selection of posts on this thread all mentioning the situation regarding our missing rider.

I refrained from posting last night! That was a very very bitter pill to swallow! And already, even though it’s only the 1st meeting, a 12 point home defeat is not a good way to start! Some may see this as moaning, but trust me, I speak as a very long time genuine fan of Berwick. I’ve spent thousands following my club over the years, sacrificed family holidays, made excuses to miss birthdays just so I could get to away meetings #imabadfriend
We are seriously going to struggle using RR for Coty. Nobody knows when the South American borders will be opened and even when so, he’ll have to quarantine over here! IMO, that needs sorted ASAP!  We need Dany G on rubbish hot home form and that was sadly not so last night as can be said with Spud too.
Losing Jye was a big blow for us... immediately throwing more pressure on to Leon and Kyle in the process.
Our 2 reserves definitely showed huge promise though. Leon scoring 9&2 which should have been more but for his bike failing when leading heat 4.
Racing in the 1st meeting was not brilliant... going to have to turn it around against Scunthorpe!

So... Kai Huckenbeck pulled out of the European challenge meeting the other day, the one that fellow German was ‘on stand by’ for... and he was replaced by Ivacic...? Could it be that he maybe couldn’t get to Berwick in time due to racing in Germany on Friday night for Landshut... Which would surely mean no facility? Because he quite clearly wasn’t on stand by, and even if he was, that surely does not give a facility????

In terms of last night, brilliant to be back at a stadium, bar Greg Blair the racing was awful, shock, don’t know why Jye got EX in ht3, but the main question has to be why we haven’t replaced Coty, as it was surely obvious that he wasn’t making it over, or anytime soon. Harris brilliant bar ht1, Leon and NBJ who afaik hasn’t even rode the ‘new’ track before the only bright sparks. Gappmaier worrying, he’s only good for home meetings in the first place... Good to see a not bad sized crowd as well

Very disappointing result, could not have foreseen Jyes accident, but think they need to address the Coty situation, giving Dany G an extra ride away from home is a no no.The new track work done does not seem to have made any difference if last nights racing is anything to go by.Good bit of team riding by NBJ for Kyle.Hopefully better next week or can see crowds dwindling.

The Coty Garcia situation needs addressing as you say, looking at this I don't see it getting better anytime soon.

Great to be back watching live sport and it is true that sport is nothing without fans. Entry and exit to the stadium seemed to work well and was easy to follow, admittedly I did get to the track earlier than normal so avoided any cueing, exiting was just as easy with the extra doors opened at the back of the stand, so well done to all.

Congratulations to Birmingham on their win, thoroughly deserved, they took advantage of Berwick`s bad luck losing Jye Etheridge in Ht3 and ran out comfortable winners. Decent night for our two reserves but last night showed Berwick cannot cover for the absent Coty Garcia medium or long term, if a replacement is called for and in the current circumstances I wouldn't know where another rider could come from, hopefully the management will have looked at this already.

Home defeats are no good at anytime, lets hope for a first home win next Saturday against Scunthorpe.
