KENT v EASTBOURNE May 31st

Recommended Posts

Kent will be completely knackered when mulford moves into top 5  unless they make a change, eastbourne wont be as badly affected when ablitt moves up , even verge could end up there . Gilkes looks the real deal.

looking forward to seeing Gilkes at Arlington next Sunday and how he copes with Brennan,Kemp and Edwards.

Unfortunately not going to happen, as Dan is away in Europe riding in u19 pairs at gdansk. As it's his home track out there I wouldn't be surprised if drew was his partner.

Good solid away draw for Eastbourne and thats certainly early blood in terms of the overall league standings. Kent have issues to be resolved as Warren aside the others know the track and are under prepared/performing. Cousins had later notice into the team but Clouting and Ledwith cost Kent. Good tactical move to run Gilkes at 3 and will do wonders for his confidence. Shame the next home NL fixture isn't until the end of July.

Seagulls will be happy with 3 away points from two matches having had to re jig  but Royals will have to do something about the long tail if they are to have any ambitions and we know Len always wants to win. I am surprised that they declared some points under the limit when they could have had someone like Luke Harris

Kent are only 0.96 below the limit can't can't fit in anyone above 4.00 to replace a non scoring 3.00 rider!

Indeed Kent will struggle with 2 x non scoring 3.00 riders at reserve, similar to Armadale with Rothery moving into the top 5!

Throw Berwick into that mix too. That said with enough non scorers in reserve race one of them has to take the win...

Clouting needs a bit of confidence to get himself going but there are big gaps between meetings that may prevent that from happening.

Lots of teams in similar positions with newly riders of short experience.  As the season progresses, the best of the will start to shine. But

Sings makes a good point.  This year the N.L. matches are a rarity ( until September, that is), so not much experience available.

I think thats where Eastbourne have got it right with Laurence in the team. Whilst he may not double his average he won't throw many silly point away like other less experienced and over excited riders. Mildenhall were in a similar position with Butcher until he bust his elbow at the weekend.

NL riders could do with 30 matches a year to improve but NL clubs (except Mildenhall) only want to race 12 matches a year!

How good would it be if there was a fully functional speedway track available with a promoter willing to put on regular meetings for the NL riders, rising stars etc to practice against each other & improve their skills.  Sure the BSPL would be massively in favour of that seeing as there are so few meetings in the NL.

I think IOW qualify, but the BSPA would rather threaten to ban rising stars getting extra track time than encourage them!

Buxton, Iwade and Lydd are excellent training tracks, that should be used more.

OMG ..... a league of Buxton Iwade Lydd .... BSPL will have to move quickly and threaten any NDL rider by cutting off their ****** should they be seen within 10 miles of these tracks.
