Anlas Tyres

Recommended Posts

Allowing two tyres per meeting is tantamount to accepting that the tyres are not good enough. We have had many years where only one tyre is allowed.

surely this just ups the costs, whoever has to pay whether it's riders or BSPL

Not is Anlas are sucking up the cost for sub-standard products?  Although the costs as a whole have gone up as these new tyres are more considerably more expensive than the outgoing Mitas. As ever in Speedway the cost of these 'improvements' only ever get passed on to the paying public

Surely Anlas will be absorbing the cost themselves?

Their review process that they carried out must have highlighted the issues hence the additional tyre is the recommendation...

If it was fit for purpose initially at these tracks then there wouldnt have been a need for extra tyres, therefore they as the manufacturer will be taking this cost impact surely?

It's just another expensive complication for what should be a very simple sport.

Precisely all these excusive agreements just hurt the sport in the UK and prevent it from moving forward. Instead of the kick backs and dodgy deals we could have had any hologomated tyre is allowed for use in the UK. If there is an advantage between one and another at certain tracks then it adds to part of the spectacle. Mitas may not have been perfect but at least everyone knew its flaws and how to work around them.

Except the tyre manufacturers want exclusivity to supply, otherwise the volume opportunity is restricted but more importantly the cost of R & D can't be justified so a five year deal costed back to the price of a tyre doesn't make megabucks for anyone. The "kickback" is to contribute to the cost of "environmental storage and controlled disposal" bearing in mind that the tyre disposal contractors won't rock up for 14 tyres, they want hundreds at a time.

Whilst your post is perfectly well reasoned the tyres were already developed and in use abroad and GPs plus the one tyre rule isn't applied in Poland (Speedways benchmark country?).

I do appreciate the disposal elements and it must be very costly to chuck the used tyres in a massive pile and do nothing with them/use them to keep greyhound sheeting down/put signs up saying no tyres left in pits so riders have to take them away and dispose thier selves (yes i know nobody acknowledges the signs).

You would like to think Anlas would be absorbing the costs, but then depends on how well you did you due diligence on the contract you signed. (I'll not answer how well scrutinised that would have been)

It would be pretty disappointing and typical if the original tyre testing had been done at one of the tracks now needing 2 tyres by who knows?  a couple of National League riders because they happened to be there and were free? I mean, you get a proper test like that rather than getting a half decent experienced top level (UK) rider to put them through their paces and give you some proper feedback. But hey, they might want the costs for their expertise and equipment use covered for the day. Whereas giving a couple of national league riders a bit of free track time will be just as good won't it. But this is just speculation B)

Unfortunately speedway still is yet to learn that you get what you pay for. Peanuts and primates :t:

It seems that 15 of the 16 riders at last night’s Wroclaw GP were using Anlas Tyres. It seems they are consistently providing more grip though I don’t know if the longevity issue has been resolved.

is the Golden tyre (whatever that was) now a thing of the past now Hancock has retired?

the difference in the gp is its one race one tyre unlike here where its meant to be on tyre per meeting. recently we used anlas 002 in the 250 cc class in poland and germany and did one race per edge and got similar wear patterns to the anlas 003 which we use in the uk. the tyres are not designed for longevity

My recollection was that the Golden tyre worked well for Greg when the silencers changed to the ones that Eddie Kennett was caught doctoring, but when the rules changed again, basically back to the original silencer, after some poor early season results, Greg bought himself out of the contract. That was some time ago now
