Newcastle v Berwick (Champ) 1600 Hours Sunday 01/08/21

Recommended Posts

Well an opportunity for the Diamonds to redeem themselves after the Redcar horror show...

Who knows what the line ups will be... we know who the two 7's are at the minute but whether that will be the same on Sunday and in what order they will line up is anyone's guess at the moment...

Will be interesting to see how the diamonds respond the the roasting off the promotion following the Redcar defeat...

Think it will be a narrow victory for the South Northumbrians but our northern cousins may nick a point... hoping for a 49 - 41 but wouldn't be upset with a 46 - 44...

Looking forward to it

Berwick will be without Leon Flint (Team GB U-23 at Brokstedt).

No other meetings in the UK in the Championship, but rather limited options for a guest for Matty.  We can go up to 6.79. Which brings in the likes of Tom Brennan (6.09), Paul Starke (5.98) and Theo Pijper (6.55). There are others but on much lower averages.

Think Leon got an Audi on his last visit as I still have his racing cap that I adapted... don't think Brough is in his top ten favourites...

So do you think we will be seeing Dan Thompson again as he is becoming a bit of a track specialist and will have had more visits at reserve than any Newcastle reserve if he is picked for this one?

I would rather do R/R for Matty if I am totally honest but with Adam still a bit sore from his injuries it might be wise to get a guest... Decisions decisions...

I believe Leon moves into the 1-5 on Sunday, would think that would mean R/R, but with the fact he’s our rising star, goodness knows

You (well not you, obviously!!) can guest for the home side as many times as you like, you can't guest for the visiting team two weeks in a row (so the guests from Sunday gone for Redcar, can't guest for Berwick this Sunday).

Dan Thompson as a guest for Matty is an interesting one.  Riding at no.5 is a bit different to riding at  no.7, but could be interesting.  Ash Morris could be a decent shout.

Could always "Jiggle" the riding order around a bit and stick him in at two and Ruff's idea of Ash coming in is a good shout as he seemed comfortable last week so there are options to be fair...

Also with Mattie's average coming down and Kyle's average going up that's him (and quite a few others to be fair) out of the picture... has there been any official news on how Matty is? Do we think he will come back or is that him out for the rest of the season... with an average just over 7 it left the door open for some reasonable guest options however now that he is just under 6.5 it starts to restrict the options a bit... and saying that does it really matter because at home R/R should suffice?
