Where was Barker last night?

And a big no to 6 man teams from me. Awful thought.

Said his head was not in the right place for racing after the news of Dave Tattum's death earlier in the day.  It's been said that they were good friends.

A shame he thought of it that way, but fair play. But the news must have been expected, it wasn’t sudden.

He had an illness of which he fought privately.

Tell that to the family & friends of the late Sarah Harding & John Challis & many, many others who had illnesses but when that day comes, it is sad for everyone.

Possibly but any track that pays rent to landlords are in danger for me with rising costs here n there all mounts up.

Poole may well be taking up a legal challenge against their landlords - Stadia UK who are the current leaseholders of the Council-owned stadium - who are trying to impose a massive rent increase on the Poole promotion without any negotiation!!  Having solicitors as one of the club sponsors and also a partner of Matt Ford in his French business offers good support to the club's position who have always paid their rent on time and coughed up a 3% annual year-on-year increase without issue.

The Council have publicly stated - on video - more than once that they want Poole Speedway to be retained on site at the stadium as they recognise the value to the town and they would 'get involved' if the leaseholders were becoming unreasonable.  Watch this space........

Six man teams might be the way forward  , I’m sure it’s been run with 6 riders before

Yeah, personally I didn't like it. Has to be an odd number for me. If not 7 then 5!

Even with 6 man teams the same problems with riders missing due to injuries etc will exist , just one less rider to worry about. To my mind r/r is the best way forward and that when both teams want to use it ,it gets cancelled out and the no.8 is promoted. This used to be the system years ago and gives the no.8 valuable experience.

Agree with Thornaby 48. Additionally I would allow the option of one  gust to  replace the team’s number 1 rider. The gust should only be allowed to take the 4 programmed rides and must ride in the number 1 slot in the team. ( no T/S or nominated heat appearances) and of course have a lower CMA than the number 1 rider he is replacing

This to dissuade teams from picking track specialist gusts to strengthen their teams. R/r should be the preferred solution for all absences.

6 man teams I believe were last used in 1997. Thinking back to Glasgow side of that time think was Neil Collins, Mick Powell, will Beveridge, Grant MacDonald, Brian turner and I forget the 6th rider. I believe lowest averaged rider was classed as a reserve and could take up to 7 rides. There were 12 programmed heats and 3 nominated heats. Were allowed unlimited TS if more than 8 behind

However the guest issue still existed. Think we won at Middlesbrough (could be wrong) due to a fantastic guest performance by Scott Robson.

Yeah think it would be Sean you're right. I'm thinking maybe turner was the following year and Stewart McDonald made a comeback that year. I'll need to hunt out the old programs

I would have thought that the sad passing of Dave ( Ben's dear friend & supposedly mentor ) that it would inspire him to ride & do Dave proud .. but I suppose some people take thing's differently
