Umm the amount of teams definitely matter! Maybe if you pay Matt the difference of running in the prem compared to the Champ then maybe we could go back? Heard it is 5 figures.

What's the saving riding In Championship compared to Premiership, apart from Bewley, Kurtz & Holder it's the same riders! Plus you're not getting the tv money.

I love how Shovlar thinks the Championship is the bees knees now.Oh how he changes his mind,he thought it was utter rubbish before the season started and was even contemplating not going. He would love Poole to be in the Prem play offs and not the Champ just so he could gloat even more.

Irrelevant. That's a separate issue from the one I was making Ms Colette.

Rumours suggest we're heading back to the Prem next season anyhoo, and I hope they're true.

Not irrelevant when those are the issues the person in charge is using when making the decision. Anyway if Mon and Thurs fixed race nights stay we not moving anywhere!

They not gonna be on the same pay. It was what was said when we moved down, that there was a big saving in costs. Tv money can't be very high, not many meetings shown this season!

Approx 30%. The tv money doesn’t make up for the shortfall. Add in having to ride on Mondays and Thursdays, the same opposition every 3 weeks and it becomes very unattractive.

I was against Poole dropping down but considering the league is double the size and there is no difference bar a couple of riders in team strengths, it’s a no brainer.

Let's hope the racing improves in the next three meetings..

And that we get the best two race tracks on show in the final...

I enjoyed that track, needed skill to ride - as Harris said, using the little brain he's got!

There is a quite significant saving if what you read on the Newcastle and Eastbourne threads are accurate re payment..

With Eastbourne paying "too much" for the 2nd Division according to other promoters..

Probably far too simplistic, but maybe the conversion rate they use for averages is also linked in some way to points money conversion too?

ie it is "easier" to earn more in the 2nd Division so you get less per point?

I would also think that the 2nd Division teams could drive a harder bargain too as so many of the same (decent), standards riders will be relying on that second job due to very limited overseas opportunities...

And. Let's be honest, given the crowd numbers the sport has, it shows hardly anyone really cares who wins either league title anyway so you might as well be "successful" for less..

Poole's crowds from what I have seen and heard are at the top end of the scale of any club in the UK, but wouldn't I would suggest get another 500 or so through the door if top of Div One rather than top of Div Two...

And of course from an entertainment perspective you get to see virtually all of the best riders riding in the UK each week just like the Div One fans do..

I would also suggest that a few Div 2 teams should have taken the same decision and dropped down to Div 3 in a similar fashion, although to be fair, the Div 3 standard was messed about with which maybe dissuaded them from doing so..

1000% the correct business decision for Poole, but not surprising as over the years they have made many good busines decisions...

One of the sports major issues is the way some run it as a "money no object" hobby bringing salary inflation into it..

If all had to run it as a pure business to make themselves money to live, then I am sure many decisions made collectively by those who run it would be a lot different..

And the sport would be in a much healthier position because of it..

I've always wondered how much tv money is paid out.Are you going to let us all know as you must know.

Really? We belong in the top league, no matter how many teams are in it.  Winning the Championship is nowhere near as prestigious as winning the Premiership and it's records that count.

An achievement on a par with running out of petrol three miles from your home, whilst someone else runs out four miles from theirs... :D

Poole run it as a "rules no object" hobby though

Proud of the way we battled last night to be honest and never gave up fighting. Only 3 heats didn't feature track specialists Harris and Andersen, only 1 heat didn't feature Harris, Andersen or Nicholls  21 of their 30 rides completed by the trio, surprised we kept it so close to be honest. Really hope the second leg is more of a team event, then we may stand a chance.

I thought this thread was supposed to feature Wolves and Peterborough. I for one couldn't give a monkeys about Poole and whether they should be in the premiership or not. There time has come and gone and the less said the better!
