Not sure about that? They wouldn't have a new promoter on the Board in his first year, but he's clearly made a good impression in the various 2021 BSPL meetings!!

Sounds like the team they're going with and I'm not convinced with that 1-7 tbh for a number of reasons. Poole fans will disagree and that's fine.

The top three won't get 36 a meeting against any decent side on the road tbh with the way some teams are lining up with 3 big hitters themselves as well as Home track specialists.

Both Cook's are riding out of position and Ablitt would be non existent at reserve every week and it's relying too heavily on Kemp to keep the reserve battle close.

This side looks very vulnerable.

Bear in mind you only need to finish 6th out of 11 to reach the play-offs, so win at home & get results against weaker sides away & you can win the league!

That's the trouble with top heavy sides, they generally are. Poole and Swindon have had plenty of them in the past. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't! Have to get the lower end right.

This side LIsa does not have the feel of last years team and bearing in mind Basso, really give you something  different. Both Cook brothers are talented can’t see this side not surviving a change or two.

Maybe. The Ford's aren't as ruthless as they used to be though.

Just for the record I think both Cook's have potential to be good riders (Not saying they're poor riders)

Just got to let them develop and progress without throwing them in at the deep end and expecting them to do a job in the 1-5.

Have to consider Kemp too and how he wouldn't be able to carry a 2.00 pointer most weeks when up against a Berwick with Etheridge at reserve, Glasgow with Hume & Bailey, Scunny with Kennedy and Leicester with the rumoured Anders Rowe just to name a few examples.

Not sure they could get a top 6 spot tbh with that 1-7 tbh.

Cook's at 2 & 4 is just too risky considering the stats from this season. It's effectively 3 HL's and 4 reserves on the road with no second strings.

If Poole build a team like this, they can expect to get say 36 points from the heat leaders, that means the remaining 4 only have to score 2/3 points each to win! Nothing wrong with building top-heavy!

Poole 2022?
Steve Worrall 9.05
Danny King 8.99
Richard Lawson 8.51
Ben Cook 5.31
Zach Cook 4.40
Drew Kemp 3.72
Ablitt / Mulford 2.00
Total 41.98

And considering we can use a tac sub in most of the away matches if needed,I wouldnt be to disappointed with that team so much firepower at the top end and if one of Kemp or the Cooks were at reserve they would get extra rides for whoever was at 2 or 4.

I would have to say you are spot on , both the Cook brothers have real potential but  they are no better than Hume in a top five. They could be ? Kennedy another Aussie gets chances yet he has not shown up to yet he is a championship 1/5 rider.Your point about Kemp is right to he needs to push on for me Hume should of got a Prem spot before Kemp and Rowe and i like Rowe followed him since his mini track days at Swindon.

Poole would be making a big mistake to go top heavy next season.

Ben Cook at 4 is too risky. Fine at No.2 but his average is mostly built on a spell at reserve. Riding at 4 last season his home Av was 4.00 and Away it was 3.50 (No B Points)

Zach Cook in the 1-5 is a no no imo because he wasn't good at all on the road last season 3.38 Away GSA inc bonus. Have to build the 1-7 to get Zach riding at No.6

Any team building plans should start with the following formula imo to give the team balance and to ensure certain riders ride at a certain number that suits them best.

One of S. Worrall or Lawson to join DK (All three is a mistake as it leaves riders riding out of position and asks them to punch above their weight at this moment in time)

1. Steve Worrall

2. Ben Cook

3.

4.

5. Danny King

6. Zach Cook

7. Drew Kemp

or

1. Danny King

2. Ben Cook

3.

4.

5. Richard Lawson

6. Zach Cook

7. Drew Kemp

I get the point you are making that having Zach Cook "out of position" means he'll score less in the top 5, but isn't this countered by having say Ricard Lawson "out if position" at number 3, so scoring more than he would do if he was at 1 or 5?
