Are The Comets coming back at a new venue?  I hear a new facility is being built. Is this true?

Yes believe it's Northside. There pictures on the workington page.

It's a pity there are no security cameras in place, so as to catch these evil bastards.

Having read the latest update in the Speedway Star about the vandalism lets just all hope that the relevant Authorities will grow some balls, be firm and visible and rid the area of the scourge of these animals and that Workington / Northside can rise from the ashes and destruction caused ready for 2023.

It is a tragedy the new Comets were prevented from joining this year's NDL by the vandalism.

However, if it hadnt happened this way and the stadium opened in time, who would Workington have been able to recruit for a 2022 side?

Surrounded by established NDL clubs at Edinburgh to the north, Berwick east and BV south -- who between them appear to have all the promising northern lads signed up -- might the Comets have struggled to get a team together?

Indeed, might they have a similar problem in twelve months?

Build it and they will come. Belle Vue have signed riders from all over this year and in the past. The reason they sign is a good race track week in week out. Others might want a change of scenery or just no longer fit at their current team.

The drop in points limit previously pushed riders out and now the raise has caused problems with shortages but over the year there should be a natural rise again (given teams built to 40 and 42 available blah blah) hopefully if the level holds there should be enough to fo round and create a nice pocket of northern rivalry.
