Potential stadiums

Isn't Brafield back under another name and the venue owned by Spedeworth Motorsport who also promote oval car racing there?

Interesting. I went to the England Training Centre at St George's Park, just over the road, before lockdown and went to have a look but it was all barricaded off with concrete blocks preventing access. Looking at Street View in January of this year though it seems accessible again. I literally passed through just a few villages en route, but that was from the M1 so maybe a bigger potential fan base to the west.

In the speedway world if a single promotion isn’t prepared to take a risk and a punt on their life savings, no new tracks like at Burton will appear. If though a collective BSPL shared promotion could be agreed and take 50% of the start up costs, more tracks might appear.

You think the BSPL have any cash for such a project or even the combined will to actually do something collectively for the ‘ good of the sport ‘ when most of them are struggling to keep their own clubs running ?

And the reason they struggle a dwindling dying fan base. Every track closure loses hundreds of fans and a promoter until they both become too small to support anything. We had money from TV coming in until the recent deal, money that went back out the sport none invested and kept in the sport.

Exactly ! So why did you suggest a BSPL run ‘new club’ when they are struggling to keep their own individual clubs afloat ? The same people who failed to invest in the sport are still , in the majority, running the sport as the few , new, promotions with new ideas have no say in how it’s run so nothing is going to change hence the 2022 set up being the same as 2021 .

Nothing will change till it implodes and then, hopefully , gets a complete overhaul.

Simply because its only the current crop of promoters that can save and grow what we have. Sharing that burden is a start.

The only other solution is to change the sports expenses to be less than the outgoings. That will attract people with money who wish to make more money. But that doesn't seem to be happening.

The two big expenses are engines and riders pay

so as has been said numerous times get an engine that cant be interfered with, and reduce rider expenses, if it means we  it alone in this then so be it

once that expense has been reduced then riders pay can be looked at

also there is a big need now to look at quieter engines, and the way to with that is electric ones, i know that will take away the noise aspect with speedway, but i would rather that happens then we lose the sport altogether

how many of the sites that have been listed in this topic have been discounted because they are close to housing

Back to tracks that you couldn't use from the original list: - Crayford. The old stadium was knocked down and a 'micro stadium' about half the size of the old one built - the rest of the land and the large car parks are now Sainsbury's

The replacement dog track was heavily criticised by the dog owning community with complaints that it was too small with the bends being too sharp (resulting in too many dogs colliding and getting injured). Any speedway track laid inside would be around 150 - 180m maximum if it could be laid - and as the dog track has sharp bends, the bends would be somewhat pointed

As the last dog track inside the M25, it is a busy track so cannot see the owners wanting the bikes interfering  anyway
