Potential stadiums

Recommended Posts

With Oxford making a welcome return in 2022 it would be interesting to compile a list of other stadiums where speedway could be resurrected/introduced.
some like Coventry maybe regarded as a long term project but others could be less challenging?

let’s see what we have.

There are quite a few greyhound stadia that are not in the 'top echelons' of the greyhound world that don't have anything else going on. eg. the new Oxford Stadium leaseholder has interest in other dog stadia!  Not sure whether they are suited to adding a speedway track/pits etc or whether they have hosted speedway previously?

I know that Hove in Sussex have a greyhound stadium but that may be deemed too close to Arlington?!

Better saying let’s see who we have that will invest in Speedway.

like Nottingham for example

Opposite a country park and near a nature reserve. Noise pollution could still be an issue there I would suspect.

the only places worth looking now for new tracks would be where they currently hold grasstrack

And who is going to fund what would almost certainly be a loss making operation?

Not a clue....

But isn't that the qualifying M.O. for running a Speedway track? :D

There was some talk of Brafield coming back a few years ago. Looking at it on the maps thread in Days Gone By it seems pretty remote. Odsal is another obvious one.
