Poole v Oxford 15/4/22

Recommended Posts

Looking back, the last time these 2 clubs met at Poole was April 11, 2007. 15 years ago. I am surprised asI didn’t think that was the case. Am I wrong here?

Anyway instead of the usual 11 am dust fest we have suffered on a Good Friday fixture, common sense has prevailed and it’s a 7.30 start.

Oxford come along with track specialist Scotty Nicholls, who has in the last couple of seasons been brilliant value for money with his from the. Ack battles, and Troy Batchelor who has blown hot, and cold.  Kyle knows his way around, but really Pirates would need to have a shocker not to win this fairly comfortably.

Glad to see them back. More returning clubs, the better.

Thoughts?

7:30 start will catch a fair few out but at least the early morning dew should keep the dust down.

I'll be happy if we get 40 pts

Happy as Larry with a draw

Elated if we win

2007, we would have had Batch!!! And JC lol. Blimey, feels like a million years ago!

Good to see Oxford back :t:

Don't forget Jack Thomas, Steve! He was good for Brum at Poole on the last meeting the track was an issue and got 9 (I think!) from reserve. I'd go 48-42, as not a form guide from Oxford yet to go on!!

Oxford website says 6pm so maybe that's one already.

Changed to 7.30pm. I think because Nathan Ablitt is riding for BV Colts in Manchester at 1pm!!!

I think its more to do with AFC Bournemouth now being at home with a 3pm kick-off and also on TV, which was originally scheduled for the Saturday 16th!!!   A 6pm start would have been a bit much for supporters to make both matches.

Does it take over an hour to get from Bournemouth to Poole?? ;):oFootie would finish about 4.50 if you allow for injury time.

I'd say getting from Manchester to Poole in 3 hours on Good Friday when everyone seems to descend onto Dorset! Is more of an issue, esp if the BV meeting overruns imo.

How come? Do they have a squad system in that league?

The forecast for tomorrow is good so no doubt the meeting will be on. Wonder if we will get a splattering of Oxford fans making the trip down to support their new club?  With Nicholls and Batchelor both solid around Poole it should be a decent meeting.

Any Oxford fans who are making the trip to Poole tomorrow
Just a heads up , you can come straight down the M 27 AND A 31 through Ringwood.
I would suggest you leave as early as posible as the traffic could be busy.
Come down early and take a walk down the Quay and have lunch there.

Tbh it hasn't been too bad recently. The traffic has moved pretty well on the contra flow considering. But you are right Good Friday could be very busy, depends on how many escapees from Ringwood there are at the time!! :D But I would have thought most the traffic will be going through in the morning and early afternoon. Shouldn't be too bad when you get to the evening.
