Gorzow GP round 5 Saturday 25th June.

Recommended Posts

Predicament with the GPs at the moment is that 2 of the top riders over the last 5 years are carrying injuries/illness and not as strong as before….. Freddie and Leon. The big spoilers, including Janowski, are not consistent enough to take the final each meeting, and the upcoming younger ones…. Dan and  Robert have the speed, especially Dan, but not the experience (yet) at this level. So it’s Zmarzlik title to lose.

Pity Vaculik didn’t start the year like he is now.. 15 points behind with 5 meetings to go is very doable if everything goes right, and he is probably the one who could take it from Zmarzlik.

It has been Zmarzlik's to lose ever since they band Laguta. Them two were so much quicker than everyone else last year.

Once again a rider just let's Zmarzlik have a free run up the inside on the back straight of a race...

Memo to every one...

Whisper it....

Zmarzlik will fly up the inside of you down the back stright into turn three...

Glad it isn’t just me, he’s so predictable it’s frightening how no one hasn’t worked it out.

Don't forget about Emil.

Taking away 2 of the top 3 in the World makes it a less relevant World Title this year, if you ask me.

Poor old Tragic Janowski, same old, same old. You can't help but think he's maybe stuck in a rut, it's the same story EVERY season, maybe he needs to do something radical... and this is going to sound daft... but quit Poland?

Dan reminds me of a young Tai Woffinden. ..:D;)

The way Dan swept passed him tonight when they met, you wonder whether he also collected the baton from him

A few tattoos and more use of the 'F' word and Dan's made it!

Definitely knocking on the door for gb no1, hope he can get top 8 it's definitely doable the form he's in

Likewise for Robert Lambert, i think they've both been impressive this year,  but as others have said its just developing that final cutting edge to their style. Its a pleasure watching both Robert and Dan this year.

Top 8?  Only top 6 are guaranteed for next year. Plus top 3 from GPChallenge, winner of European championship, wild card for every meeting, and 5 for organisers to pick.

Once the track had settled and some of the riders accepted the conditions it turned out to be a decent GP. Great that we get another different winner of a SGP, still dont like the scoring system though. Robert Lambert and Dan Bewley showing signs that can get to a Final, and also signs that Tai Woffinden is fast becoming a SGP also ran who must one eye over his shoulder as a top eight position is far from certain.

The relevance of World Titles has always been subjective.

Hans Nielsen wasn't in the 1992 final, and nobody sane believed Havelock was a better rider than him. Ole Olsen wasn't in the 1976 final but I doubt Peter Collins is bothered.

Sayfutdinov finished 3rd a couple of times without ever really looking like he was going to win a title.  And Laguta put together an unbelievable 'Dave Norris' type season last year when he'd struggled for top 8 previously.

Zmarzlik has 5 medals in 6 GP seasons which suggests he's worthy.

It could be worse, we could go back to that ridiculous system that garnered Rickardsson a couple of titles where he only had to do 4 rides off gate 1 in every GP.

Over the course of their careers Hans was obviously a better rider, but in 1992 Havvy was undoubtedly the best rider in the world, Nielsen was past his very best by '92

He does seen appreciably faster than so many, hence he uses this speed to drive under his opponents in a straight line going into a bend and scrubs his speed off by locking up and riding his opponents up the track deep into the turn...

Tried it with Vaculik in the final but he had the balls to cut off his run by coming across him hence Zmarzlik came off the throttle, straightened up, drifted across the bend and lost ground...

So many must know by now his M.O. surely?

If he beats you, (and he definitely may well do anyway), at least make him work for it and go around you, not give him the lower run down a straight to "block pass" you and ruin your own race at the same time...

In other earth shattering breaking news...

You can pass up the inside at Monmore Green coming out of turn 2..

Karlsson's Corridor it is called...:rolleyes::D
