iainb 4,863 Posted May 7, 2022 (edited) Oh dear, 2 races down on our new super smooth track, no home race winners and tractor grading already! ... and dust Edited May 7, 2022 by iainb
iainb 4,863 Posted May 7, 2022 7:30pm: 4 minutes of speedway racing, 26 minutes of tractor racing
iainb 4,863 Posted May 7, 2022 Fair play, the special one has just been on the PA to apologise for the track conditions... instead of sending the tractor out again perhaps he should go out onto the track with a spade and put the holes back where they were
FishersGate 500 Posted May 7, 2022 Bloody tractor has come out more than Josh MacDonald this meeting
40-38 302 Posted May 7, 2022 Sounds like they’ve cocked the track up then, they did the blade now maybe they need a plough!
iainb 4,863 Posted May 7, 2022 It was back to the bad old days tonight... with the tractor racing only interrupted by those pesky speedway bikes now and again
proud panther 1,493 Posted May 7, 2022 Surely they could have tested the track before tonight, to ensure the blade had done it's intended improvement ?
Happy Hunter 361 Posted May 7, 2022 (edited) The tractor racing was at its worst tonight but the meeting still finished about 8.45 which I didn't think was too bad! Edited May 7, 2022 by Happy Hunter Spelling mistake

Not possible, as bladed Wednesday, track nearly sorted, the it absolutely smashed it down with rain, so the work had to stop, inside of the track was under water, Thursday spend hours drying the whole track out before moving the material around, after doing all of that the track was packed in as hard as possible, more work on it Friday with a view to getting it all done early Saturday morning. Loads of rain Friday night, more puddles to get rid of, more time to dry it out again, was so wet that could not even put a tractor on the track until after midday.

Nevertheless, despite heavy rain disrupting the track refurbishment this week meaning more than usual tractor work needed between races, the meeting was completed by 8.45 & Nick Morris set a new track record! Just bad luck by the sound of it.
lucifer sam 3,953 Posted May 8, 2022 Awful meeting. The blade used during the week had cut into the clay base. It wasn't a problem for those out front, but those behind were bombarded with huge lumps of clay, hence the riders being so strung out. More tractors than bikes, with a huge gap after Heat 4. Sounds like a load of excuses to me. You’ve clearly got the equipment to deal with a bit of rain. Maybe they should try clearing the mountains of dirt away from the curbs so the water can actually get into the drains or better still look at the weather forecast and prepare for the incoming weather. Relaying a track in the middle of the week was never a good idea unless they intended to leave it slick, which they didn’t. Less excuses and more action is required. Poor Stewart seems to spend more time on the track than he does managing the team. Maybe it’s time to get someone in that knows what they are doing. Edited May 8, 2022 by Leave some for us.
