Did better than the last bloke

True but left it in a poor state for someone else to try to pick the pieces up in the end

So you must not be a fan of young Archie I'm guessing ? Do you sell a favour give the kid a chance & if your going to criticize make it constructive !!

Dont care either way actually felt sorry for him last year and thought what Newcastle did to him was disgraceful!! I just didnt see the reason for Redcar to spend money acquire him is all hes still a fair way off NL HL level let alone Championship so no money coming in for loans etc but as someone said above Redcar are trying to get a asset base going so good for them

George English was a fine promoter at Newcastle , his record proves that. Having met him years ago at Newcastle (around 2009ish) , you could tell he lived and breathed Newcastle Speedway. However after reading posts since coinciding with his departure , things seem to of gone sour.

Either way, Newcastle ran year in year out whilst he was involved and since he departed the club, its gone downhill rapidly.

Thought MR English  had left  the SCB a few year ago.

He is in charge of VAT payments mate, he’s a whizz at it apparently.

Except there was enough funds in the club to pay the vat until rob spent it on something else.  You can see 100k going out after Rob took control.

Vat is always paid in arrears

You are way off the mark here, in fact a different planet, have you actually read this and other Newcastle threads from the start?

I don't think that's correct.

The last set of accounts prior to the liquidation process kicking in was the year to 30 November 2018. At that point, the net assets were £25,562 but, as the issued ordinary share capital was £100K, the remaining reserves amounted to £(74,438). This is most likely the profit and loss account reserve but no detail of the split is provided, as they're micro-entity accounts (pretty useless in all honesty).

The next thing we know, the company is facing an HMRC liability of £158K, following an investigation of the period prior to Rob Grant taking control. This would have been more than enough to wipe out the £25,562 net assets, even if it consisted wholly of cash / bank (which it probably wasn't, as current assets at 30 November 2018 were only £33,696 and most likely included stock and debtors).

The liquidator issued a Statement of Affairs, showing assets with an apparent market value of just £500. This was cancelled out by a creditor of the same amount. The bottom line of this statement showed net liabilities of just over £258K (£158K to HMRC and £100K ordinary share capital, all owned by Rob Grant).

By the time it came to the liquidator's final report being published (around 8 months later), only a further £2,684.92 of assets had been realised, all of which was swallowed up by professional fees. Both HMRC and the ordinary shareholders received £Nil, as there was nothing left in the pot.

Bottom line is Rob didn't "spend it on something else".

As he has been for most of the season only this time he was co- sponsor of the meeting and there in official capacity as part of the SCB, and no, he had nothing to do with the deal.

Couldn't pay his Vat bill but can Co sponsor another tracks meeting.

Does pose the question where the monies come from? Always seemed to be on holiday/cruises if memory serves.

Totally agree with you, don't see it as a clever move signing up Freeman. Showed promise with Armadale, but has gone backwards in a weaker NL this year with Belle Vue!

Agree with your statement but the lad is struggling with backroom staff at the moment !! It's hard to get a decent spanner man/women these days to help out at all the meetings as people who work full time find it hard to get the time off to help him out... Hopefully next season his now new parent club Redcar will be able to help out & give him more track time which is needed & then his true potential will start to shine
