CrystalCastles 290 Posted November 17 Whilst i think this has been coming for Everton, the punishment seems extremely harsh and is simply the PL wanting to make an example of a club to show that they can do something about it. However it shouldn't have been influenced by 2 clubs with an Agenda. Seemingly Leeds, Burnley, Leicester and Southampton will now sue Everton. The PL never wanted to investigate Chelsea, and now suddenly, because of what has happened in Ukraine, they have fairly conclusive evidence. The PL don't want to take on Manchester City, reinterpreting their own FFP rules every year to accommodate Man City's owners endless creative ways of sponsoring themselves, and allowing them to tie it all up in litigation. steve roberts 9,230 Posted November 18 I'm afraid I lost interest in football years ago with all the money involved and the latest relevation regarding Everton only compounds my view with other teams looking just as vulnerable financially and/or corrupt. 1 Share this post Link to post

If ever there was a season to be docked 10pts its this one, even with their handicap Everton will still finish above Luton, Burnley and Sheff Utd. 1 Share this post Link to post

Which is why Leicester, Leeds et al are raging. There is a massive difference between the Everton case and the City/Chelsea ones. Everton admitted guilt over a fairly obvious overspend, whereas the the other two cases are mired in a complex labyrinth of financial shenanigans. The fact is Everton have been sailing close to the wind for sometime, they got away with a far bigger "loss" on the books due to Covid than any other team, but they continued to spend and gamble on staying up. As Screm says, the gamble has paid off as they stayed up the past 2 seasons and even with the points deduction they will have every chance of staying up this year as well. Remains to be seen what claims they have to fight off from the clubs who see themselves wronged though. Share this post Link to post

Everton knowingly broke the rules and are rightly punished, to be honest their 10pt deduction should've happened long before now, last season probably, that would've been good enough to see them relegated. Rumours of clubs looking at some kind of compensation are doomed to fail IMO. Share this post Link to post

No surprise, pointless game really with both sides already out in a competition nobody is bothered about. Even a rare win is depressing though. Almost full strength side yet end up playing a CB as striker and beat Swindon's reserves/youth with an own goal. I'm resigned to relegation now, I don't think there's another club in the country who'd put up with this form. Sad that after all the effort to get back to this level we're giving it up without a fight. Share this post Link to post

The Cheese 2,008 Posted November 26 At least being this bad is profitable. Bolton win to nil, -1, -2 and -3. Disappointed I didn't go higher Share this post Link to post
Grachan 7,299 Posted November 29 Swindon Town! What are they like? 3-0 up going into the 89th minute - end up wining 4-3. Still, at least they won this time. Better than being 7-0 down to non-league opposition and eventually losing 7-4. Share this post Link to post
