Scunthorpe Scorpions V Workington Comets 29/3/24
SteelShoe replied to paul84's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Got to fancy a home win, so many track specialists in the Scorpions team. I'll be happy if we keep it reasonably tight and give ourselves a chance of the aggregate bonus point. UTC ! -
Witches v Brummies 28th March
kevin bass replied to Badge's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Decent display from Birmingham considering they were writing off as the leagues whipping boys before a wheel was turned, closer meeting then expected helped by the fact that Emil binned it twice which was very unlike him, hats off to Scotty tho, show's he can still mix it at 45. -

Plymouth Gladiators 2024

Said last season BSN should give the place a wide berth considering the number of calls offs they have. -

Add in the Kennett farce, no or minimal track drainage, meetings being called off due to bad track prep. Farcical. NDL operation at best. -
Surprised to see Max James missing for Leicester at Belle Vue. Edinburgh have a season launch event, but I'd have thought a NL fixture would take priority over that? (Assuming that's why he's missing)

Witches v Brummies 28th March
Mick Bratley replied to Badge's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It was a decent meeting, in front of a very big crowd and once the ambulance returned we got through the heats at a good pace. Boy was it cold and windy. A spirited effort from the Brummies but the end result was never really in any doubt. -
Rihimaki has designed a new seating position, 20cm lower than a standard bike, with a view to lowering the centre of gravity. Speedweek.com have an article on it. On the Saturday I was on curve 3 and had never seen him in the flesh before, so thought he was just a tiny guy. It was only on Sunday when I sat at the start/ finish that I could see the seat was really low with a raised section at the front for starting. He basically stuck right to the inside all the time over both days, not sure whether he's always done that like Harald Simon or whether that's all the bike's good for. It obviously works well for Rihimaki, but looks bizarre. Haaruhiltinen said he thought it looked a bit dangerous and Niedermaier said he'd rather give up than ride something like that Thankfully doesn't look like others are following suit just yet. That could change if he pulls a win ( or two) out the bag in Heerenveen!!

Would make them a lot stronger, but Nicholls won't stay due to his TV commitments. Unless they "rested" Zach for a couple of weeks, till Nicholls really has to go?
-
Yes there was a handful of Brummies fans at the meeting. I was texting myself. It was a close meeting once we started, got it done in just over 90 mins. Birmingham were right on form In the first half before Ipswich took the lead and won by 8 points in the end. It was a freezing evening, was in 4 layers, bobble hat and blanket on the backstraight. Enjoyed my first visit here, worth it.

I didn't see a second ambulance

Birmingham should keep Nicholls and let Zach Cook go, harsh but Nicholls would be a hell of a reserve.

I think all the early call offs last year proved ultimately correct - well those weather related ones anyway! -

Few showers about tomorrow but nothing like today. Dont think there’s much risk of it being called off. -
Read my post again, slowly this time. Or do you think Landshurt and Daugavpils are now in Poland?

Was great to see race times included again in match reports after being missing for a few years, Always good to see who was the fastest rider on the night.

King’s Lynn vs Leicester - Thursday 28th March
Speedball replied to SpeedwayFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
100% correct decision to call it off. Used my spare evening to visit a relative in Lynn hospital and it was slashing down when I came out at 8:10pm. Clubs often get criticised for getting it wrong, so only right they get praise when they get it right. -
