Speedway Kodi Video Add-on

Recommended Posts

HI guys, just a quick heads up. @SpeedwayKodi has gone live. It is by the fans, for the fans. It is a KODI add-on (Think of it as an app) which is full of videos all things speedway. You need KODI software to run the add-on. KODI software can be found on it's offical site http://kodi.tv/download/ or on google play store. It is totally free, no ads, recommend v14.2. It does not hog system resources, memory or cpu. It is cross platform, so Windows, Mac, Android and some apple etc. If the device can run KODI, then speedway KODI will work. From PC's, tablets, phones etc.

Once KODI is installed follow @SpeedwayKodi on twitter for help and instructions on how to install the SpeedwayKodi add-on.

It has started concentrating on Shale speedway, but in time it plans to add grasstrack, longtrack, ice, cycle and indoor. And it's totally interactive in as much as if there is a video/match that you remember and it's not there, tweet and if they can, they will. Their moto seems to be, "If you like it tell all, if you don't, tell them and you'll make it better together".

Any questions or help, either follow @SpeedwayKodi on twitter, or post here.

Enjoy :D

This is superb. Everything a Speedway Supporter could want. Film of lots of the GPs, Old World Finals, Individual Events and other Competitions. I have just watched the World Final of 1972 and it brought back many memories for me.

Credit to my Son for sorting this out for me.

I can see me watching this regularly.

Thank you to those who have put all this together.

Is there some peculiar 'White Knight reason' why you have avoided watching the 72 World Final on You Tube?

It has been available there, in more than one version, for probably the last ten years.

Sorry I spoke.

I have a 19" Computer Screen and a 42" Telly. I don't know how to play one on the other - I am not very technical.

I just thought I would give folk the benefit of my experience. I thought, obviously mistakenly, that was one of the purposes of this the Forum .

Once again - many apologies.

Thank you for trying out the add-on, and we are pleased that some of you are enjoying it so far.

"Grand Central" is correct in saying that the 1972 World Final link is on YouTube and has been for a while. On the info screen that pops up on opening the add-on each time, it does state along the bottom that the content that is currently being used is from YouTube and Vimeo sources, and currently 98% of that content is from YouTube. This however will change over time, and more sources will be being used. Also, it can be incredibly difficult to source specific content on YouTube, very time consuming and a lot of interesting videos can easily be missed. This is only the start as the add-on only went live this week. Think of it as heat one, round 1 of a Grand Prix season. This will be an ever evolving add-on, and plans in the future to grow into other media avenues with much potential.

In regards to live stream links, currently this will not be included in the add-on for legal reasons, however we do plan to add an info section in the near future containing date, time, channel and match information for all available live tv matches around the world. So this may help out add-on users.

We would like to ask "Grand Central" if he has seen and used the add-on? The fundamental point of this add-on is its for the fans. All feedback is requested, listened to and will be considered and used to increase the quality of this add-on in the future. However, feedback can only be taken seriously in this way if it is coming from the add-on users. I welcome "Grand Central" to post his thoughts on the add-on as a user, or encourage him to try it out at some point if he hasn't already.

Many thanks to "The White Knight" for trying out the add-on, and we hope that you continue to enjoy it's content.

Thanks for your interest in my experience.

I did have a go yesterday just out of interest.

As I currently use a iPad mini fairly constantly that is not jailbroken that interest waned quite quickly.

But I just don't think i am a prime target for you at the moment.

My current Smart TV set up allows me to watch youtube at will, plus those nice men at Sky and Eurosport show quite a bit of Live Speedway as well.

I also am led to believe that it is possible to even watch Extraliga Live from Poland every Sunday if I were so inclined.

But obviously I wouldn't as I would not want to do anything against the law.

All that, ends up leaving me with just the off season to have the occasional delve into the hundreds and hundreds of old Speedway DVDs that are crammed into storage boxes.

So I shall wait until you do have content over and above that which I can access easily at the moment.

And therefore wish you well in your endeavours.

Hi "Grand Central", we appreciate your time in responding, and also with your good wishes for us as we go forward.

We agree with all of your points except for one, which is "you don't consider yourself as a prime target for us".

No one, and we stress again, no one that is involved in this add-on from concept, to gaining sources, from the development to now and going forward has, or ever will take a penny from this add-on. There is nothing to lose by having less people using the add-on, but it can only gain by more users for the sole reason of making it bigger and better through the fans suggestions. Therefore, I would say YOU are our prime target. And we would love in the future for you to let us know when you feel the time is right for you, that you have tested it and what you think of it.

At the moment, there is an issue with apple blocking the use of KODI software to some of their devices. This is an area which we are also keen to keep an eye on, however there is nothing that can be done our end to solve this.

Also, having not been able to use the add-on yet, you may not be aware that every time the add-on is opened a 8 sec video information screen comes up explaining that no money will ever be taken for this add-on and it will always remain free of charge to the user. However, for those users that would like to thank the hard work in developing and maintaining this add-on, there is a link to the "Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund" and explains a little about the charity and suggests any donations wanted to be given go directly to that cause.

So to recap, the KODI software is free and legal to all, the add-on is free and legal to all, the developers and maintainers of the add-on do it free and make no money at all, there is potential for the Charity to receive donations that otherwise may not have made it their way. And that money goes directly to the charity which then gives it to the riders that could well be the ones being watched in the add-on. Help to install, answer questions, take requests etc is always available at @SpeedwayKodi on twitter.

I know for a fact that the Charity has received a donation already that would not have happened otherwise.

Grand Central, you have just become our No 1 target!!! :t:

As a matter of interest to all users and non users, it seems that for any user to view a live stream source without making a copy or download of the said live stream is not illegal in European Countries. However, the provider of the said live stream or links to it etc, without the relevant authorization to do so would be in breach of European Law. I do stress again, LIVE STREAMS ARE NOT available on SpeedwayKodi.

Please see this interesting article regarding the information above:

So isn't this program just a kind of screenscraper that searches youtube or redhotporntube (or whatever is your video website of choice) and plays the youtube clip?

Seems an awful lot of trouble to download a program, then download the add-ins, and have an extra program running in the background just for it to find a youtube video that you could have found for yourself in a tenth of the time.

Much easier to type in www.youtube.com and just search yourself.

I also wonder if the program is secretly collecting info on your viewing habits? This might not be a problem if you're watching something from youtube, but you might not want anyone to know if you're viewing from other video sites.

Hi John, thank you for you post. I can assure you that no personal information is being gathered in anyway. The only information that is available to the developer alone is how many times the add-on has actually been downloaded, not who downloaded it or what is watched etc. Obviously I understand your question and it's a very valid one, and we will discuss maybe including this answer on the loading up info screen in the future. We appreciate there is no way of us proving this to you, but we can only give our word, or our post! :)

Normally, If you use YouTube directly and are signed in, your history is switched on automatically and stores the videos you have watched within YouTube unless you switch the history off yourself. Using this add-on there is no way of collecting history at all. The user is not signed in to YouTube in order to use the add-on. So the program simply plays the video that's clicked on. There are no other options other than to watch the video, fast forward etc. You can't download the video, change the quality, keep a record of what you've watched etc. I hope this helps.

Yes, at the moment it is using links from YouTube and Vimeo, but in the near future this will expand to others and other types of media also. It's just a starting point. For instance today or tomorrow an info section is being added which includes information on up coming LIVE TV SPEEDWAY COVERAGE from around the world. Yes you can get this information from the sky guide, or online etc, but you can see how we are trying to get a kind of speedway media hub together.

In regards to other video sites other than YouTube, within this add-on you can only view the videos that are included. You cannot search YouTube/Vimeo etc. Every video added has it's own Jpeg image, and the link has been vetted as speedway related by me. Obviously every online app/website/program etc is open to an online attack, but we have measures in place as much as the next to help prevent this happening. And we are hoping if anything is wrong the fans will tell us asap and we will deal with it immediately if we haven't found it first.

We would like to invite you John if you are on twitter, to follow us @SpeedwayKodi. I can then personally walk you through the installation steps to get the add-on installed for you. Your feedback on your own question would be interesting. Yes downloading and installing does take about 5 mins to do, but once installed and working it is incredibly easy to navigate and find what you are looking for. I hope to be able to help you try the add-on out.

Many thanks
