Is It Finally Time For One League?
cowboy cookie returns? replied to TheSmiler's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The Golden egg was laid in the early days of Sky TV. It’s a real shame that the promoters & everyone involved didn’t embrace it & use it as a relaunch pad. That money spent correctly to improve the product with the viewing figures at the time could have been transformative. Also don’t forget at the time the sport had Column inches in the national tabloids & featured on the back page several times. In terms of race day if the product was want people wanted & was desirable it wouldn’t matter what day the racing was on. -

Don't think Workington will lose at home, provided they all stay injury free, and they may pick up a lot of bonus points. Good to see them back, I am definitely concerned about when my team visit -

BSN may as well do away with the RoTN if it's just going to be voted on by rider fanboys... although who was every going to vote for Jacob Hook when Batch got 16+1 🤷♂️ -

Enjoyed that, despite the scoreline the racing was decent. -

Although I did vote for him in RoTN how Bowes wasn't excluded for unfair riding I just don't understand, he completely baulked Worrall. 012.1.14 Foul, Unfair or Dangerous Riding The Referee shall immediately disqualify any rider who they consider indulges in foul, unfair or dangerous riding. If, in the opinion of the Referee, such conduct produces an advantage to the rider involved or affects the chances of one or more riders, the Referee may stop the heat and order a re-run. When was the last time this rule was used I wonder 🤔 I've given him stick on here in the past and I hate to admit it but Batch was absolute class tonight 🤮 -

Gavin Parr already commented that Glasgow booked Tate as soon as the GB team match was announced. So before Riss became ill. -

Sure the scunny fans would be the first to jump onto Batchelor not acting like a captain, just giving up and turning round to go to the pits after the race is shambolic. Think it’s time he hung the Kevlars up. Allen is atrocious, if yous didn’t have worrall this would be a massacre. -

Ht 7, wow, what a great piece of team riding by Tate and Jacob, superb effort from the Scunny pair too. What a fantastic track Northside is, here's hoping they can pull in crowds big enough to sustain it. -

IainB replied to TheSmiler's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
No, that's what I've heard the WBD contract is paying. £100k per PL club, per year, circa £3.5m over 5 years -

You were making the comparison to golf though and they're not really comparable, in fact Speedway is quite unique in its setup (no doubt folk will give me loads of examples) but it doesn't know what it is... is it an individual sport or a team sport? and if it is a team sport why are riders "playing" for more than one club? I've said it before and I'm going to say it again I believe Cricket is the closest comparison to Speedway, they're both heavily weather effected, players play for more than one team (franchise cricket, IPL, Big Bash etc), International's, what it does not have is an individual tournament... maybe it's time to ditch the SGP Series? It's all pie in the sky though as without the money that a decent TV contract provides other than 3 or 4 clubs the rest of British Speedway in its current state just can't afford the top riders, even Ippo couldn't replace Doyle or Emil when they got injured last season. -

Thanks to those who replied with their assumptions. I just wanted to know if anything was officially announced e.g. bike problems, aggravated an injury, heat exhaustion. -
