Saw that coming a mile away. Best start applying for loans now folks because I've got a feeling now they've got the exclusive it's going to be big bucks. I for one won't be paying for it if its big money, I'd sooner do without and just watch the GPs.

There was a lot of bravado from CVS when he confirmed we were definitely not running after 2023, but that was enthusiasm and passion talking. Its more i think that he is realistic now. Getting a new venue or back into Monmore will be a long old slog with no guarantees either option would be successful. We're nearly three years on now and we still don't know the full story of why we were booted out, we just have hearsay and Chinese whispers to go on. It took ten years to get speedway back on Teeside when CVS was much younger and the sport was in a better state (or by comparison to today).

What about Northampton?

Alright Rog you patronising cnut. You're about as funny as rabies in a guide dogs home. -
Maybe... You would also think that they would have been far more vocal in their pursuit of opening the track over the past few months.. It may not happen, but lots of updates would at least have put it into the consciousness of the local populace... With, maybe next year, it coming to fruition.. They are just absolutely "Barry White" at hype and marketing... And, having done it for a living, so much of it costs absolutely "eff all"... Especially even more so now that we live in a 24/7 social media age..

Well thatâs another week of silence, the eventual news better be all singing and dancing greatest speedway news ever -
What about Northampton?

Maybe if they had listened to Chris Louis who informed the BSPL four years ago that speedway was welcome at Northampton and would be a vital additional track. then we wouldnât have this last minute rush to launch and the delay of fixtures etc. -
He might no be far off the mark considering at the time of the last Wembley world finals 25k would buy a decent house. The promoters may not have made enough to buy one from scratch but many mortgage's could have been paid off. Just imagine today, a sold out Wembley for speedway would create a minimum of ÂŁ5 million in revenues - Although typical sold out events there generate upwards towards ÂŁ11 million. we can dream!

Have I missed something ? What are the 'stock car announcements' you are referring to ? -
An obvious solution to the UK rider shortage... Well, it is in keeping with so many other great ideas....
-
I sort of understand riders wanting bigger and bigger deals because unfortunately most come into the sport with the mentality of itâs my living and I donât blame them for that, if anyone is at fault itâs the sport feeding that illusion to them but for me it wasnât my living it was my dream and I lived it
-
I loved it a Berwick, the fans made me feel like it was my home and it felt like a big family, it was 550mile round trip for home meetings but worth every mile and days Iâll never forget
-
It was a massive issue under Ian Jordan at Eastbourne, I spoke with Chris Louis and he said Jordan was paying Richard Lawson more than he was at Ipswich, not that Jordan paid RL in full at the end..
-
You certainly gave 100% for Berwick, thatâs all most fans wanted in them days.Nowadays 1 bad meeting and they want changes.
-
It is a generational thing but doesnât make your observations wrong
-
Well it certainly had a lot of sway in Birminghams plight, they were paying more than they should of to riders and obviously hindsight is a great thing but after the seasonâs performances it turned out they were paying way more, there were times last season when some riders should of been paying the crowd to watch them
-
Many promoters from the 70's onwards made a lot of money from speedway. Very few, if any, put some of that money into the future of their clubs or British speedway in general...
-
I am not sure the riders pay is the reason for the stadiums closing and there being no teams left. Most were kicked out because they weren't worth having there. Teams should have been smarter with their money about bought land/stadiums in the early sky years when they had money to burn. I still also think it should I have to one team per rider across all leagues (not just UK, but overall) and then introduced some continental meetings. This would have allowed all teams to race domestically on the weekends and allowed more room for TV deals and midweek racing against foreign clubs which would prevent against racing the same teams all the time.
-
And in that statement lies most of todayâs problems. The youth know the price of everything & the value of nothing. Old school vision by myself maybe, or is it just a generation thing and they will be saying it in 20+years time đ¤ˇââď¸

Unless we get some rain offs in March and April, by May we will probably be out of BSN and KO Cup. I can see another short season looming.
