  2. British Speedway, The only sport in the UK where.... Lower League Clubs try and dictate the future of the Big League Clubs. Lower League Clubs try and take Money out of Riders Pockets by putting them out of a job at PREM level. Lower League Clubs try and takeaway from the Fans by replacing Top Quality On Track Battles like Brady Kurtz v Jason Doyle or Dan Bewley v Max Fricke and replacing them with Paul Starke v Simon Lambert or Jack Smith v Alfie Bowtell.
  3. Vojens tickets already on sale on the normal Danish ticket website.
  4. What I meant was the uncertainty. After the 1990 season it was all set to be the same again a 9 track BL & 17 track NL in 1991. Then whispers of something changing started to happen. Just before Christmas the two leagues merged giving use BL division 1 & 2. A winter that was all over the place that’s the feeling I get this winter. The big difference between now & then is the amount of clubs & there was no lack of riders who wanted to ride in the uk.
  5. Like him or loathe Matt Ford is a shrewd businessman, I think he saw this coming several years back hence his decision to drop down and lower his annual costs by 30-40% and it sounds like Poole's fan base numbers have held up well even allowing for the drop in rider standard on show. It would also appear from the article they are generally making a profit on most meetings which is unusual for most clubs these days. I think as I've mentioned before Ford now realises he made a mistake not unloading the club when he had Holder and Ward in their prime and Sky were involved I've no inside knowledge but some on here who may have, indicated he wanted to much for the pirates. I guess now he's happy to take a draw of profits from the club as most meetings appear to make money without him having to put any major investment in on his behalf and let things tick along at a sustainable level.
  6. Well last year I made a good few thousand so that horse is well worth riding
  7. It’s £30 for a small stand at the speedway show fgs, it’s hardly marketing money
  8. British speedway currently isn’t even preaching to the converted, it’s preaching to nobody at all, last month I went to the Stafford motorcycle show, thousands of motorbike fans over 2 days, there was one Indian guy selling curtains and another selling mobile phones, now it’s about £350 for a stall there, did they sell a curtain or a mobile phone case ? Probably not but they are out there trying and it was just 2 stalls out of place but it was 2 more stalls than the whole of speedway had, we and I mean collectively and that includes every club have got to push our sport at every opportunity and every event possible, even if it’s preaching to the converted or even outside of our comfort zone, this is not a brag but with the different shows I’ve done I’ve done more to promote speedway than British speedway itself
  9. I agree... Using riders, and paying them circa six figures, who can earn £400/500k in Poland, is nothing more than an ego trip for promoters in my opinion... And adds pretty much zero to the attendances at tracks, zero to wider media coverage, and zero to public awareness... The bottom line is ... Millions have been spent to regress .. When will the coffee be smelt?
  10. If only DEAN MACHINE could see the facts that you have intelligently stated , let’s hope he makes a few quid on his stall , bless him and he might step down off his high horse.
  11. Well that didn't age well. Looks like @1 valve did know their facts, and rightly called out the garbage!
  12. That just leaves Glasgow to make up their mind. Will they or won’t they.?
  13. Best get some more building work done 😆
  14. So all Gp tickets will be purchased through the same website?
  15. The thing is,(as many others have pointed out), there will be no one there to promote the club to. It's an enthusiasts collectors fair, and a bloody good one. But no member of the general public is going to pay £10 to go and look at old speedway programmes, books and leathers. It's entirely for existing speedway fans, and very devoted ones at that! There will be no one there who has never been to speedway, and no one who doesn't know of the existence of Workington Comets. In fact, I'd wager that the vast majority will have been to Workington as, like me, they are the kind of people who set out to visit every track in the country, and will have had Derwent Park and Northside ticked off their list already. Preaching to the converted in November is neither "thinking out of the box" nor "promoting the club". Just go along and enjoy the nostalgia and the lovingly crafted collections.
  16. It could if you stop the tail wagging the dog. Riders who want to double up can ride in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. If you had one league of five rider clubs with two home and two away meetings surely that would see riders pay broadly unchanged. That may also ensure that the youngsters come up through the ranks getting second half rides. Where do today’s supporters think riders came from in yesteryears. They came from the second halves, eventually rode at 6 and 7 in the second division, then the main team then progressed to the top division. Without that support at the lowest level, the pipeline of riders dries up and the sport is dead in the water. The talent is out there it just needs nurturing and that includes backing from each and every supporter.

  18. I think it says a lot really that even teams like Poole can’t compete in the premiership, makes you wonder how the teams currently in the top league do have the money to afford it, it cannot be sustainable anymore
  19. It’s not about the bspl and clubs because the bspl and clubs don’t support it and it’s not cause the organisers havent tried to get them, some riders even wanted travel expenses to attend, I was quite surprised today while setting up just now may folk attend the motor museum,,maybe tomorrow some will venture in to the speedway show, maybe they won’t but if you don’t try they definitely won’t
  20. If they want us to move up it does. Maybe we could move up in 2027 as Danes riding in Poland will have Denmark as their other league. So no UK. Frees up Weds!
  21. As me and my family have done a couple of times this year, in fact I’ve been 4 times this year to worky, over 200 miles away, who knew
  22. Yea you are right there is no answer to people like you, build it they will come eh
  23. 100% Correct.... The whole shebang needs a root and branch review... And then clear recommendations that get adhered to... PS (Will never happen)...
