Largely agree with Baldyman here - it’s not often I am surprised by some speedway news but this really is a big one! Didn’t see that coming at all.
-
Yes if you could have got Thorssell in on 4.5 that would have been the signing of the season as you would hope in this league he would be north of a 7 point plus average even if he was in the top five of the team.
-
I think there is a lot in what you say but s/way riders are different from us mere mortals ,Tai has to come to the decision himself personally I think he will never return to level he was prior to these recent crashes .

Don’t be daft. It was the duo you mentioned not returning leaving Ipswich with very little top end strength, that made the signing of a strong number 6 imperative if the team was to be successful. It was hoped that Bangs would have been that trump card on a 4.5 average, but it hasn’t materialised. We’ve covered him ok so far and made the cup final, but we’ll be underdogs against Leicester, and up against it to finish in the play offs without that number 6 position being filled sufficiently. No chance of winning it IF we got there. The rumour originally was Thorssell on a reduced 4.5 average. Perhaps that could be revisited..

I think some need to realise the position Ed is filling, would appear some would only be happy with the signing of Doyle or Emil.
-
I wonder what the Witches legend Gavan makes of this signing?

Tai's family need to step in and convince him to retire, I love Tai and he's one of my all time favourites but somebody above is trying to tell him something with all of these broken bones and injuries year after year. I'm a believer in fate and the signs from above are telling him to call it a day before it's too late. Tai's got nothing left to prove, Whether you love him or hate him personality wise, He's a multiple World Champion and one of the Best British Riders of all time and nobody can ever take that away from him. Common sense has to prevail instead of chasing something that isn't a reality anymore, The reality is that Tai can't get through a full season anymore and it's just broken bones after broken bones and surgery after surgery with no end in sight.

Trust me, I would love it to be a success story,, just like I wanted Crump to be, I love nostalgia and would love to watch a team or meeting of Golden greats. I just don't think it happens very often where someone has been away from the cutting edge competition and made a great success. Also he was already on the slide a fair bit when he last raced at this level, but like you say,, with Scott and Hurry and Danny, it will be like being around old mates. I hope he atleast beats the RS riders regularly. Also as mentioned, not moving for JJ was a big mistake, especially if they already knew things were going south with Bangs

HOT TAKE! Kennett will fill his boots at reserve once dialled in, I think this is a different situation to Lewis Bridger who returned to the Sport with a bulky physique. Kennett has always been a decent gater and a better performer on the smaller tracks, The team is very British with a lot of familiar faces as far as Ed is concerned so he should have no problem settling in. Hellstrom-Bangs to me has been awful, Literally no excuse to score 1+1 or 2+1 away from Foxhall in every meeting when you consider his competition at reserve in every meeting, When I last saw him at the NSS in the SoN he was full of heart, determination and an all out entertainer, I haven't seen any of that in Ipswich colours and he's looked a completely different rider. Finally for the eleventh hundredth time, Why wasn't Jonas Jeppesen signed? Failure to act sharpish has probably cost us the League imo because Sheffield aren't great and Belle Vue will struggle without Bewley whoever they get in.

And with the track now an absolute concrete dust bowl, should suit his style
-
Kennett has always been a decent trapper, so if he can get out of the gate sharpish at Foxhall, he could hang on and score a few points at home. Away should be problematic though. But hey, who knows! Hopefully he surprises us..

It says if Bangs is still available after the 28 days he could slot back in,, more to this than meets the eye. As for Kennet, what's the worst that could happen,, he could be poor,,, but if he has re found his love for speedway, he may just be okay,, let's hope it's not like when Bridger returned
