  1. Past hour
  2. See the wife in the crowd when she was 17
  3. Every single one of them If the odd one remains it will be 'the exception that proves the rule'
  4. Let’s see what the new speedway futures come up with. In my opinion it’s the last throw of the dice, so to speak.
  5. Complete comedy show, and what a shower the british promoters are.
  6. Well its gone very quiet on our team building. Drew Kemp, or Zack Cook anybody?
  7. It's only a couple of months since he became Chairman of the Greyhound Racing Board. Before that he became Chairman of Star Bookmaking group. Now he's suddenly into Speedway. And he's also set to become non-executive director of The Racecourse Association in January https://racecourseassociation.co.uk/rca-confirms-appointments-of-new-chief-executive-officer-and-non-executive-director/ He certainly seems to like picking up these roles since losing his seat in Parliament. I guess you've got to replace the income from somewhere.
  8. Most top riders will go in 2027 because Poland is introducing the rule, 'a rider can ride in 1 league other than Poland'. In the future it will probably be just Poland.
  9. Like old Harry, Sir Phil has kept his 'love' of Speedway very quiet over the years? He was the MP for Shipley so wonder he ever visited Odsal? I seem to remember that a certain Nick Brown MP was the chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Motorcycle Speedway, was Sir Phil a member? Oh, I wonder what happened to Nick Brown former MP?
  10. Today
  11. I get the impression he turned down Poole offer due to his commitment to developing in POL & DK. We have to remember he is not only in Grudiatz U24 team (Tue) but is also named as one of the U21 Overseas riders for the main POL EXL side (Sundays) as well as riding DK on a Wed which they can drive to. Maybe at recently turned 16 they don't want to overload him flying in and out of UK on different days of the week and especially DK which may prejudice his team selection (Wed) and let's be honest its a much stronger Lge than UK Champ. If he progresses as I forsee he has a big future and only right he should develop amongst the best riders and in the U24 the best young riders. We may have to see such talent miss UK anyway as from 2027 the POL have changed the rules again allowing only ONE addl Lge outside of the POL EXL. For sure in almost all cases it will be POL and SWE or DK, especially as they can drive compared to having to fly. So Tue (POL U24) - Wed drive to DK and then fly back for POL (Sun). I am also excl all the SGP 2 qualifiers and meetings which nearly all on the Continent plus other Indiv meetings he may pick up if he shows his obvious talent.
  12. Can't blame any rider for not hanging around waiting, it was inevitable really that they would start to look elsewhere rather than wait until January for any guarantee. Hopefully not the last we've seen of Doyle over here, but if it is then thanks for the 20 years or so he's given to the sport in this country.
  13. Is there another STAARS meeting this month?
  14. Not looking good for the PL next season 😕
  15. i think the premiership promoters have managed the majority of the downfall by themselves
  16. Sir Philip Davies joins speedway futures to bring in a new breath of fresh air to the dying sport. He wants tv coverage to continue and is looking to a new growth plan. Things could be on the up.
  17. Now Doyle’s not commiting to uk racing next year, is the league now doomed?
  18. Agree. One thing though, if all the riders who were considered the top participants in club sides have deserted these shores for pastures new and you are just left with double up riders to make up the spearhead of a team what is the point? You would just have a group of riders in what would effectively be an alternative Championship side but racing in a so called Premier league for possibly more money. This is so farcical it beggars belief but those in charge still have their collective heads in the sand whilst appointing Sir Philip Davies to read the last rites over the embers of a once great sport. You could not make it up. Oh well they could always put large screens up in those stadia and show weekend racing from Poland. It might catch on. Throw in some live action with NDL riders/matches or short track and bingo, a weekend afternoon or evening of two wheeled sport with the finale each time being the worlds best riders performing in league racing with the tribal support of the Polish fans to add to the atmosphere. You could even have reciprocal live interaction with the supporters using the latest technology.
  19. No need Dean, the people running British Speedway have been gambling for years!
  20. You ever known someone who excels at their own job but the people around them are useless… I think everyone has and this is case and point, if a select few idiots are next to him and you have to have a majority vote it doesn’t really matter what your title is. He ran the best performing speedway club in the country so he knows a thing or to about success.
  21. If there is no Premiership I won't be purchasing a BSN Championship pass No way am I funding the clubs (indirectly - no blame to BSN) partly responsible for its downfall should it happen
  22. Going to be interesting to see where they would fill that hole from what is left available. Don't think the Fords would be happy to invest in a recognised overseas talent now they are in Champ. Not that many would want to take Champ money and a strict wage policy that the Fords have allegedly. Hopefully that question will be answered before Xmas.
  23. Glasgow are the benchmark business in terms of the product they offer, perhaps down to having solid businesspeople at the helm. It's still hard to imagine they make money and the product is still very bobble hat. I never intended to come across as saying this sort of stuff is bad, but in the grand scheme of things it's not the silver bullet. Glasgow is the benchmark because so many things they do are better than the others, I'd argue Belle Vue is a similar case. It's about knowing your audience and putting together a proposition for them. Glasgow appear to be good at this but there's not much flex to be creative in your offering in speedway. It would be great to see promotions able to offer something more tailored to their own audience. Isle of Wight being an example of where a product built for tourists, who don't care about team racing, could give them an offering very different to the one at, say Poole, Belle Vue or Glasgow.
