The point, the reason why they struggle for crowds as the traditional speedway supporting demograph doesn't live as close to the club as it used to. If they can attract a more ethnic based crowd, then fine.
-
I think you need to look at the demographic of the city and look at the growth of places such as Tamworth and Lichfield to understand why the club struggles to get decent crowds. Then add on the fact that very few people actually like the sport anymore, which is probably the main issue.

Looks like the quality of the opposition might attract floating fans rather than that of the Brummies 7, if some of the predictions are to be believed.
-
Steve Worrall it is then.
-
No mention of tent Poles then?

Will Prem speedway be enough bring the lost fans back to PB? Will Wolves fans come over in droves? It'll be interesting to say the least.
-
A lot of incidents in ice hockey are intended to hurt the opposition, it's part of the game, but what happened to Adam Johnson was something else. Why on earth would a hockey player lift his leg that high? Absolutely crazy, I'm not surprised he's been charged. He actually did something to the lad around 10 years previously, his leg was lower but the way he went in was totally over the top.

Stop beating about the bush and tell us what you really think!

Well that's one way to bump up a thread. Cheers!

It'd take them too long to put all the fires out!

Perhaps some animal rights protesters could get wind of the plan and slow things down a bit......

Wolves last meeting at Monmore 23rd October
OGT replied to Spidvej's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sad, very sad. Went there many times in the 70s & 80s. Jubilee meeting and the Superbike 6 event in 78, Brum's first BL away win in 79 and the 4TT finals in 80 were probably the standouts for me. Hope Wolves are successful in their search of a new home, good luck. We don't want to see their fans suffering for years like Cradley's have. -
It's baffling really. The Heathens were the jewel in the crown of British speedway and Dudley council have ignored that fact for nigh on 30 years. Crazy.

Zmarzlik won't be needing the 600 next year.
-
Educate me - why does Zmarzlik get faster as meetings progress?

Make the tracks out of rubber and the tyres out of shale. Job done.

It's snobbery, MSM in this country doesn't like motorcycles or motorcycle sport. They only mention the TT if there's a fatality. BSB is well supported but is never mentioned, WSBK and MotoGP events are well attended but again, nothing. -
21 years away took its toll on the supporter demographic.

Have I missed anything? -
That goes back a long way, there was significant opposition to Birmingham reopening in 1971, but it turned out to be a roaring success and attracted fans from neighbouring clubs, whilst Brum fans visited other local teams. I remember jumping into a neighbour's Reliant van on many Saturday nights for a trip to Cradley, Coventry or Stoke. Those were the days as they say.
