  1. I wasn't there so I'm only relying on the comments of two posters on here, but it sounds like no music between races. If it's true then that just plays right into the hands of my belief that you have to entertain the crowd for the full night. Just 15 races alone (or more if there are juniors) won't keep fans happy. You need to keep them occupied during breaks.

The worst example I've seen at Berwick of that this year was the Rye House cup match, without music the place was like a morgue. And they wonder why crowds are falling. We live in an age where attention spans are getting shorter, people need constant distractions, music, chat, action, whatever it is.

there was music on the first bend

  2. Something has to be done drastically to make people realise we have speedway in Berwick. Get a rider and a bike in one of the entrances to Tesco.Asda Morrison's hire the town hall just make people aware we have a speedway team.

your problem isn't getting people in its making it more interesting Basicly Speedway is boring regular fans are fed up of four riders following each other around so what chance have you got encouraging new blood It's expensive to watch, has crazy rules that no one understands , poor and outdated presentation and how on earth can you explain guests to the unconverted?

They'd rather take their families to the cinema

  3. Sitting in the stand last night , the atmosphere was much like it was at Glasgow two years ago . The apathy seemed to be passed from the terraces to the riders . That was as flat a performance as I've seen all season . I hope there's somebody out there that can breathe new life into Shielfield Park

to quote Frazier from dads army

    'Were doomed'

  4. What's worse is that the riders who he was riding with/against was a much better standard of riders to that of Shielfield park last night, he clearly doesn't want to be here so why bother

a national league guest would be more determined and probably better than Alex edberg going by his current run of form

  5.

In the wider world if a worker phones in "sick" for the week or the month or whatever and part way through there is some miraculous recovery surely it doesn't give the worker freedom to just swan off and instead work for somebody else. The worker would surely have to go through the proper channels and follow proper procedures of such as giving notice or asking permission or the like.

no one can make you do something or stay somewhere you don't want to

  6. In the past in this situation someone has always stepped in to keep it going hopefully all being well it will happen again.Speaking to some of the riders last night they seemed quite upbeat we will be running in 2016. Can remember 1981 when we were homeless going to Barrow.Workington.Newcastle to ride home meetings and we survived.2 more league meetings plus under 19 final to look forward to hopefully finish the season with some much needed wins.

there comes a point where there may not be a knight in shining armour to save the club

  7.

I`d love to argue with you, but there seems to be a resignation from fans and promotion that this is the end, obviously I hope I`m wrong.

the lack of interest from respective buyers/prospective funders (well there may be but we're not told there are so let's assume there's none) it's seems this really is the end I feel the club are just going through the motions to get to the end of the season

With nothing to play for maybe this is the thinking from the powers that be

  8. One or two around me were saying g last night that they won't be back, and before anyone suggests it I don't believe they are attention seeking. Rumours of unrest behind the scenes.

I see a video montage playing with 'skyfall' from the James Bond film playing

    '🎶 This is the end.........🎶'

  9. I know our promotion read this

Please dont let our club whimper out like this. Try do something to salvage some face.

Give us something to want to keep coming back. The team we have now simply is not good enough to win. People will not come if they know we have no chance of a win!

I could rattle off at least 30 people who no longer come any more because of how this season has pittered out

I'm in Berwick on September 5th for our league match with Rye... I can see a 2nd away win of the season coming for them.... I'm seriously considering whether to be in attendance that night :(

if it was a dog you'll put it down now

Berwick probably won't win ever again!

Last one out on September 12th remember to turn off the lights

  10. As soon as Berwick returned his registration to Coventry Barker became a free agent so was free to sign for another club, though out of decency you would've thought he could've mentioned he was returning to racing to the Berwick promotion last Saturday.

its like telling your ex you've got a new girlfriend/boyfriend

nothing to do with them whatsoever

  11. Seems strange

Why would you need to put out a statement about a rider joining another club who

    1. you've dropped

    And

    2 . isn't your rider anyway

The long winded statement could have been

Bens gone to Peterborough because they've got more meetings left than us

Looking forward to statements in the future regarding other riders who used to ride for us and don't belong to us joining other clubs

  12. Fromafar also adds another important point about some riders just not fancying a track.

The sport has turned into a complete no-win for Promotions.

I get slated on here for attempting to be supportive, but I also see the bigger picture and appreciate the effort and resources that go into keeping the sport alive.

no one doubts how much effort the promotion put in to assure the sport stays alive but you have to ask yourself is it just like poking a stick into a dead animal and hoping it jumps up
