Time to sack Phil Morris?
1stbender replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sorry but just out of interest how did you get to a figure of 80k was this TV money for the meetings? -
Sheffield v Ipswich 8th August
1stbender replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Really hope Emil is ok, best rider in the league for the last two years. Every time I’ve saw him at a stadium there’s always been something either bursting out the block and destroying his opponents or an overtake that few little would have been able to achieve let alone try it. Best wishes and hopefully we wake up tomorrow with a really positive update and fingers crossed minimal injuries. In regards to track safety you would start a whole new topic on that but certainly something that needs to be looked at during the winter months. -
Belle Vue vs Birmingham 5/8/2024
1stbender replied to Garry1603's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Freddie going round Belle Vue will sure be interesting. Antti Vuolas in my view strongest out of the reserve so will be the difference tonight, unless Pawlicki and Lampart have a decent night for Brummies. I’m going Belle Vue win by 6 -
Kings Lynn vs Leicester - Monday 5th August

I’m going for a Lynn win doubted them against Sheffield and got it wrong. The home form has been good and can see them ticking the points on nicely throughout the meeting. Plus away leicester have struggled. -
Oxford v Birmingham Thursday 1st August PL
1stbender replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
A really good meeting. Had Oxford to win but Birmingham pushed. The way Birmingham set up their 1-7 is possibly what they should stick to now until end of season. Bomber doing his thing ready for the play offs! Good to see Magic and Freddie going at it in Heat 15. I’m pleased to see Magic doing well hope his back next year in British speedway as I think he will be much improved in the UK -
I disagree with him being sacked he needs an experienced person with him to guide him to make the right decisions on the bike/ track and his set up. I’m unsure if he has that - it would be great if someone like Peter Adams could get in and guide him like he did with woffy years ago. There is a rider their but once his had a bad heat he almost needs it beaten out of him to move past it.

King’s Lynn vs Sheffield - 29.07.24
1stbender replied to StarBoy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Lynn have done well over recent home matches but didn’t predict them to win tonight, big well done! Just hope this season doesn’t end on a high and then they don’t come back next year. It would be great for them to move forward with a bit of momentum. How was it in regards to the crowd turnout any good? -

Douglas guesting for Sheffield, can’t see past Sheffield with this one. Sheffield win by 8 -
Birmingham v Sheffield - 22nd July
1stbender replied to StephenMiller's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Speedway really is a closed circle. promotions could unleash a wealth of dynamic people if they just opened up and asked for some help and I’m sure some people would offer to help and use their skills from different sectors (marketing, sales, operational personnel) maybe even for nothing for a small amount of their time due to the care of the sport etc, but it seems to me unless your willing to part with your cash to prop up the team with the promotion then forget it. Most clubs don’t seem to want to open up and keep it as it is because “that’s how we’ve always done it” -

“The way forward” is a whole new thread on its own. Clubs are mostly on their arse and whilst there does seem to be a fresh look in the TV presentation with the sponsorship backdrops behind the presents and riders when interviewing and in the pits, there is no real fresh people operating the day to day. I feel sorry for Phil Morris as I’m a big fan but one man can’t do it all. I think one big league is the most likely option over the next few years with meetings over Thursdays/fridays/ Saturdays. -
Birmingham v Sheffield - 22nd July
1stbender replied to StephenMiller's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Birmingham is a crazy place. You’ve got the owner going around like a poor man’s Gandalf. There sacked rider guesting and had a good night and ended winning rider of the night. Another meeting where the “track” is the issue. Lampart going from a man on form in his first two rides to struggling to pass wind for the rest of the night. Freddie’s comments at the end about positivity and team work in the pits with Paco etc being in there, is that a dig at those missing not being “team players”. I thought Lynn was bad…. -

Speedway of Nations 2024
1stbender replied to a4poster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
What a win great for team GB and something we should be shouting from the rooftops and getting out there publishing this out in tv and news press! British speedway use this as a start to make things better! -

This is going to be a great night of speedway all the teams I think will take points off each other, will be a close one. Whoever came up with the ticket structure needs sacking unbelievable should of priced it at a reasonable rate and it would of been packed out -

Typical British weather a huge week for Britain and the NSS to showcase they can stage big events and it’s going to p*** it down. Anyone know if they have covered the track or just let it hammer down and hope is stops a couple of hours before then thrown the riders on it for a mud fest. -
Birmingham v Oxford Mon 8th July PL

So just out of interest you get rid of Rodgers and Sam, would you keep Chris Adams as Team Manager? Or do you have a complete break and bring in someone else? They will survive the season the towel won’t be thrown in now. -
Wolves Speedway potential new stadium???
1stbender replied to Pauldoveyspeedway's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Shame not to hear anything from Wolves which is a concern for their future but I’m sure there plenty of work going on in the background. Another team that was local to them was Cradley I’m sure there was something on the forum about a possible comeback from them also but nothing more? I’m sure someone local may update. -
Ipswich v Leicester June 20th
1stbender replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That’s some beating Leicester took tonight I wouldn’t be surprised if some changes are made now as Dickson isn’t shy in pulling the trigger. Who’s out there is anyones guess? But I’d be very surprise after last years drop off that he’d let it happen this year. -
Laguta would be a cracking signing at Oxford and I think that team would take some beating at home. However don’t see any chance of it, I think realistically Oxford will be 4th with what they have. Can’t see the teams below them now catching them.

King's Lynn v Oxford 17/06/24
1stbender replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Lynn good tonight solid all over and kept chipping away at the points. I thought Oxford would of taken this but certainly not as strong as they were at the start of season. Hope the crowd is better next time for Lynn starting to go well at home now hopefully push on for them. -
Barker crashed on Tuesday and believe it was a bad one but can’t find an update on it? Does anyone know if his ok?

King’s Lynn 2024 serious team predictions
1stbender replied to SpeedwayFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Until British speedway is stronger in every department than Poland we have no chance of clubs being able to push back any blocks the polish put on riders. Unfortunately we are so far behind them that it’s not viable to start the fight.
