  1. Completely taking posts out of context again. You are wrong but will never admit it.
  2. I didn't make a comment about posts or threads achieving anything, you did. I merely pointed out that asking Vincent Blachshadow to go back through his posts would not achieve anything. That's a very different thing!

European Union - In Or Out?

Yep, they are decent bunch. Shame Johnson can't admit it when he is wrong!!
  4. You do like to twist what people say. Where did I say "Nothing on the forum achieves anything"? My opinion is that debating the effectiveness of lockdowns is not going to change anything and therefore achieves nothing.
  5. I am pretty sure I have read posts where iris has criticised lockdown but as Vince says, it doesn't achieve anything.
  6. And what exactly will that achieve?
  7. It would be interesting to know the age profile of those 120 deaths.
  8. Haven't you got to compare how the 2 countries record the deaths?

Hundreds of car parts jobs are set to be axed after a firm announced it was pulling out of the UK. Toyoda Gosei UK's plants at Gorseinon in Swansea and Rotherham in South Yorkshire employ 458 people. Andrew Denniff, from Rotherham and Barnsley Chamber of Commerce, said the firm was a "big player" in the town and its loss would have a huge impact on families, as well as the UK. "The impact of Brexit has now become an unpleasant reality," he added.

It’s not academic to me and many other companies involved. How very convenient to make a statement like that!!

It might be considered a small price to pay if all suppliers/contractors were treated in the same way, tax wise.

European Union - In Or Out?

That wouldn't surprise me one bit as the DTI have advised me to set up an office in Europe if I want to protect the business that we have been doing with the EU for 30 plus years!! What a joke!

One of my manufacturing companies was involved with the governments ventilator challenge last year. We weren't offered any tax waivers. Where did we go wrong?
  14. Apparently he called it off in respect of death of HRH Duke of Edinburgh.
  15. Kier Starmer thrown out of pub for supporting lockdowns! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9487383/Keir-Starmer-THROWN-Bath-pub-astonishing-bust-Labour-supporting-landlord.html?ito=push-notification&ci=133492&si=7998402&ai=9487383

My sister-in-law and her husband lives in the Midi Pyrenees and that is certainly not the common view in this part of France.

“All progress could be lost, if the UK continues to unilaterally breach the Withdrawal Agreement and the Protocol on Northern Ireland,” said MEP Andreas Schieder, the rapporteur on the file for the foreign affairs committee, from the center-left Socialists & Democrats group. “We look forward to a workable plan on the implementation of the protocol.”

City of London Brexit hit worse than expected, says study: LONDON (Reuters) - Over 400 financial firms in Britain have shifted activities, staff and a combined trillion pounds ($1.4 trillion) in assets to hubs in the European Union due to Brexit, with more pain to come, a study from New Financial think tank said on Friday. “We think it is an underestimate and we expect the numbers to increase over time: we are only at the end of the beginning of Brexit,” the study said. The EU has offered Britain little in the way of direct market access for financial services, which were not included in the bloc’s trade deal with the United Kingdom from January. “That access is unlikely to be forthcoming, so it is perhaps better for the industry to take the damage from Brexit on the chin and focus instead on recalibrating the framework in the UK so that it is more tailored to the unique nature of the UK financial services industry,” the study said. Some 7,400 jobs have moved from Britain or been created at new hubs in the EU, the study said. Bankers have told Reuters that some staff moves have been delayed due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. The total of 440 relocations is higher than anticipated and well above the 269 in New Financial’s 2019 survey. New Financial believes the real number is well over 500.

Hmmm! Has anyone told the stock market? Why is it not performing with these growth projections? My pension investments are with Investec and the last growth predictions for the UK was 4.1%!!
  21. Powers of observation?!!!! Your description fits plenty of well do to do intelligent parents in my experience. Talk about stereotyping.........

Has anyone heard whether there will be spectators next week at Portimao?
  23. But that doesn't make sense. You say it is all about control, so why would a business as in Primark want to control people in a way that might put them out of business? To use your words.

European Union - In Or Out?

I can keep extrapolating! There are plenty to find: Dave bought his Spanish holiday home after voting to leave but told Mr Jenkins that he regretted his vote. He told the journalist the main factor in his change of heart was the loss of “freedom of movement in Europe, for the proper Europeans”. When he was asked if he wanted to keep his own freedom of movement rights intact he replied. “Yes. I know it might be selfish but I think on reflection now we’d probably vote, if we had a referendum, the other way now.” Really, 'the loss of freedom of movement in Europe'? Either he was misled by the Leave campaign or Dave is a couple of sausages short of an English breakfast!! Which one is it EI?
