'the Donald' Trump

And herein lies the madness.

Any alleged evidence? Any?! Anybody can allege anything.

Credible, factual evidence is a different matter. There is nothing credible nor factual. None of it has been presented and every case has been thrown out with a stinging rebuke from nearly every judge....even Republican ones. It is quite staggering how many people choose to believe what a career liar says. Just because Donald Trump says something doesn't make it true! Jeez, I can't believe this has to be said.

Yes, you'd think it was obvious and wouldn't need stating that proper, credible evidence needs to be provided.

But the sad thing is many, not just Blupanther, hang on every word that Trump says as gospel, even when they are the demented ramblings of an increasingly narcissistic and deranged man.

How many more frivolous court cases  do you want ? - over 60 thrown out because of no factual evidence- most brought to court on hearsay of hearsay !!!!

We need to get to a stage where twitter posts can be used in a court of law as evidence. Maybe then "the truth" will out.

The good thing about all this is that, as Bluey always said, January 6th was the "Big One" indeed.

Biden was declared President

Harris was declared Vice President

The Democrats took control of the Senate

The Republican Party has been fractured beyond any immediate hope of them becoming a cohesive force for a long time to come.

That's the result of all Trump's deluded nonsense, that has been aided and abetted by people like Bluey. Really we should all be grateful to people like you, Bluey.

...yes and now let's see the media do an investigatory report on him now that he can't fall back on being President and impunity.

Missing the point, it should have been heard and an audit of the voting machines should have been allowed. Suppression is never the answer, whichever side of the argument you are on...

Suppression - there is the language of the conspiracy theorist.  'They' are holding information from you.  'They' will do anything to stop you finding it out in order to preserve their own power.

In this case there is no suppression.  William Barr, one of Trump's greatest allies and the Attorney General (Chief of the US Department of Justice.  How much more legal do you want?) stated that there was no need to seize voting machines because there was no evidence of widespread fraud.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-election-2020/barr-voting-machines-seize-trump-theories-b1777212.html

As Falcace says, just because someone is hysterically screaming something doesn't mean it needs to be acted upon.  And anyway, the voting machines are irrelevant. They are just another bogeyman put up as a reason why Trump lost in the 'It must be fraud' narrative created by Trump himself.  If it wasn't voting machines it would be something else, and then something else.

The problem with conspiracy theories is that you can't defeat them with logic because there is nothing logical about them.  Just a desperate desire for some people to convince themselves that they have an inside track on the world that others don't and they are the ones who really see what's going on.

An excellent summing up of the conspiracy theorist.

In any case the role of the voting machines will come to court soon when Dominion's many libel cases are heard.

The District of Columbia is calling for Statehood and that this is an urgent issue that needs to be addressed within the first 100 days of the 117th Congress. The reason for this is partly to enable them to call on the National Guard, following Trump's refusal to do so in timely manner yesterday.

So that could be yet another good outcome of the Big Day of January 6th, brought about by Trump and his supporters. Two more Senators, who will almost certainly be Democrats.

The bastard needs to be put on "House Arrest"  pending an investigation and subsequent trial.

Statehood for both DC and Puerto Rico has been discussed for years, but the issue is that DC is solidly Democrat, whilst Puerto Ricans tend to be Democrat-oriented, so it would both unbalance Congress and add around seven Presidential electors for Puerto Rico whilst taking others away from other (largely Republican) States. Unless of course the size of the House of Representatives was increased, which probably needs to happen anyway as population growth in the largest states has greatly distorted the apportionment of seats.

But turning DC into a state would probably also require a constitutional amendment, and the Democrats just don't have the numbers to swing that.

It's also been long argued that the Federal Government needs to be able to control the territory where its institutions are seated, and that if there was ever disagreement between the Federal and DC government, the former could essentially be locked out of its own buildings or alternatively left undefended. As in fact happened when the capital was Philadelphia.

It's of course ironic, that those who established DC never envisaged that a sitting President would encourage insurrection against the seat of government...

There's been other ideas to retrocede most or all of DC back to Maryland, as they did with the portion that was south of the Potomac to Virginia. I don't think that would take a constitutional amendment if they retained a small portion around the Mall where the government buildings are, but that still wouldn't solve the problem of command of the law enforcement and military forces in the District.

Of course, the Democrats now have an unprecedented opportunity to fix a lot of the gerrymandered things like the Supreme Court.
