Be good if the Pacific Islanders could join in as they always seem to miss out.

Looking forward to next weekend and watching some live rugby on the box after weeks of watching the reruns on Sky and BT of England and Prem/European games:t:

Good news is Rugby returns on Saturday, involving NZ's 5 provincial sides. Ludicrous new law, if any players are sent off they can be replaced after 20 minutes!!!Hope it doesn't go global.

Yes heard the new laws, will see first before I say anything about them but I am not a fan so far.

The games the stadiums are open so least there will be an atmosphere :t:

Having thought about it, it is a good idea.

Sending players off frequently ruins the contest for fans so keeping two full teams where possible is good.

Lots of sending offs are not in scoring positions, like ones on the half way line, or are player on player offences from retaliation like punching someone or grabbing their nuts, or are marginal like a chest tackle slipping up to the head or a loose armed tackle being a shoulder charge.

So they shouldn’t be allowed to spoil the contest.

Sent off players can then be disciplined by having to miss future matches depending on the seriousness of their offences.

Really is, I would hope it never catches on in the NH, it is dangerous IMO, more so if it comes down to grassroots level, opens up the chance for teams to really target players more than before.

Gimmick nonsense. I can't imagine many people who have ever actually played Rugby being on board with it.

Interesting point about whether it will encourage “targeting”.

I’m sure any suggestion of intentional and premeditated foul play will see the offender banned for a long time and the club fined heavily.

Let’s see if the Highlanders pick their third choice hooker to deck Same Cane in the first five minutes!

Next week should hopefully get more news on how the game will be going ahead in England as the RFU have a few meetings.

Heard there are a few options for the lower levels which could be starting in September and running a full season, starting a little later and running half a season or even a third of a season. All depending on the next steps with the virus.

The game at the top it looks like they are hoping to open stadiums in September at the moment (of course this may change) as gov are looking to open up cricket and horse racing in August and if that goes well then soccer and rugby will follow suit in September.

If you remove rules from the scrums, the risk of serious injury becomes immense. Allowing collapsing of scrum in particular would create huge risk of neck and back injuries.

Surely a better idea in the interim, would be to copy the NFL's way of re-starting games by having a line of scrimmage with players lined-up a metre apart, and with the hooker scooping the ball back between his legs back to the scrum half, with one forward pass being permitted from behind the line of scrimmage? This would also replace lineouts.

Been impressed with the NZ games last couple of weeks, the Aussie SR sides will begin to face each other soon :t:

Over here the Champions Trophy/Challenge Cup dates have been set to finish off the competition.

Also in the Rugby Paper Top 14 and Premiership are not happy about moving to summer Rugby. Could see this coming as a global calendar is not going to be easy to please both hemispheres.

Led to believe that crowd numbers are limited for Super Rugby Australia,Rich;), unlike Super Rugby Aoteroa where you're allowed capacity.
