Well heard Newport have signed Akapusi Qera so will definately be going home and away for that one :t:

Heard that one too Rich from a work colleague whos brother is captain of Newport, Shropshire 1st XV.Lets hope he has more impact than Burton having Marcelo Bosch in their ranks last season.Think Akapusi Qera has played in four rugby world cup tournaments too for Fiji.Quite a significant signing for the Midlands Premier Division:t:

Last weekend news was released at a possible "Heartlands League" to revamp the Championship League. Usually these new and radical plans I am not a fan of but this one actually sounds good for the game domestically. The second tier has been limping along since they tried to make it professional and they really do need to either try and make it a full on professional league or move it back to a semi-pro/amateur league.

Hopefully if this gets the go ahead it will let the second tier sides start to build up a good structure within the clubs and help sides who have thoughts of trying to get into the Premiership to give them that chance.

Cannot wait got the beers in ready for these.

It looks like just top level will be playing at the moment as RFU are going through the stages so at present teams can play 10 a side in house. Not sure when the other leagues will start but in the rugby paper teams are getting frustrated.

Great to see Premiership back and couple of crackers as well! Still getting used to seeing some of the players who have moved since the break.

You are right AD it could be a playoff full of sides from the South West if they carry on that form. I saw in the RP the other week that another team has been caught over the salary cap. It did not say who but just a side that is chasing a top 4 spot. Be interesting to see what happens there and if they will get the same treatment as Saracens though how long that took it might be next season once they get the fine/points deducted?

Just got this weeks RP and Canterbury are not happy as the season for the National Leagues and below will not be starting in September and they are looking to begin in November but it could be January before the season starts. Cause of this the leagues might have to play just half the games of the regular season but promotion/relegation will still be active.

Canterbury are not happy and I can see other teams not being best pleased as half the games will reduce the money coming in and to be relegated for only playing half a season seems little harsh. The chairman of Canterbury has said maybe this season they should hold regionalised friendly leagues and then hopefully the next season they can crack on as normal which sounds like a more sensible approach as then team will play local sides and that will help the clubs with good numbers at the bar etc

Watched the Catalans v Wakefield game on BBC1. Much better rugby post-lockdown with new rules, no scrum, ball is in play for over 60 minutes compared with over 30 for Union.

Hectic schedule ahead as we got midweek games this week. Still Exeter, Bristol, Northampton and Wasps looking strong.

If Borthwick did not know how tough a job he has at Welford Road then he sure does now!

Just so you know, Doris, when we talk about “rugby” we don’t mean League!  :D

I will be going to real live Rugby in a proper stadium this weekend..... fun times.

Premiership has kicked themselves in the foot putting on so many fixtures, really lost the USP of seeing teams at strength at all times, dross sides out for the most part of the midweek games.
