Very sad news, he always seemed like a decent guy, didn't know he had been suffering, brilliant keeper, thanks Ray. RIP

England were blessed with 2 World class keepers then, plus Corrigan and Parkes. Just had mediocre managers, Revie and Greenwood, and outfield players.Ramsey preferred Shilts, Revie Clemence, then Greenwood alternated. 2 of the best keepers I saw at Highbury. Clemence more athletic, like a sweeper, Shilts better shot stopper.

186 caps between them ... 61 for Clemence whose career was cut short by injury.

A true football legend.

Either he or Shilton would have had 180 caps if the other hadn't been around.

Heard on the radio today that when he first moved to Liverpool he had a side job collecting deck chairs on the beach, how times change.
