Tiger Woods car crash

Recommended Posts

Just after 7 am Californian time Tiger’s car at high speed rolled over and he  had to be taken out of a window and is now in Hospital. Could have serious leg injuries.

He's lucky to be alive,  when you see how far it looks like the engine has been pushed back into the cabin the car must have gone down nose first and flipped end over end. Probably the fact that it was a Bentley helped his survival chances.

With injuries like that he will certainly need a "driver" when he leaves hospital.:D

I always thought that vehicles had to be constructed in such a manner that this situation was impossible. The front & rear of the vehicle are crumple zones to protect the central area  for passenger safety. The power units are mounted in such a way that in the case of a full frontal impact they move downwards away from the cabin area ?

I have sympathy for him and hope he makes a full recovery but SSN did a whole hour on it 10-11pm last night when information was scarce and they should have been covering other stuff, pretty poor IMO.

One assumes thats his career over.

It sounds like a bad break and might be an issue for a footballer, but it appears to be only one leg, not his main weight bearing leg as a right handed golfer, and from the information they were just able to use a rod and screws. So sounds fairly fixable in itself, and the media just being ridiculously over-dramatic.

The bigger danger is probably more compartment syndrome killing off muscle and tissue, but that got prompt attention.

The severity of his ankle injury could potentially be a bigger problem for him, but i expect he will be back playing sometime this year. I suffered almost the exact same injuries many years ago, and orthopaedics have come a very long way since then...

I think with the back issues, age and now this injury his career as a top level PGA tour golfer is probably over. It has sometimes looked a struggle for him to walk around a course for four days with his back injury so he will really struggle now.

MULTIPLE open fractures to his right leg is a bit more than a bad break ...

Woods suffered comminuted open fractures to the upper and lower sections of his right leg, as well as significant trauma to his right ankle. The lengthy surgical procedure required the insertion of a rod, screws and pins to stabilize his leg, according to Dr. Anish Mahajan, chief medical officer at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
