  1. IMO Sam Masters as No.1 getting a maximum is more or less whats expected in every match, Connor Coles is expected to pick up 2-3 points, he did far better than that.

  2. Again, the gamble of having the 'best 2' riders in the league has been a factor in this as they are virtually 'irreplaceable', but the Ipswich management made that choice. It is fantastic to see these riders in our league, but it severely weakens the team if they are missing as there is a compromise in the remaining 5 riders to fit the limits. Not quite the same level, but losing a 1 and 5 at the same time will rip any team apart, so yes Sheffield had a similar situation last year when they lost Holder, then his replacement Woffinden, and then Musielak. The new 75% rule has scuppered Ipswich with Emil, but can't be blamed for not replacing Doyle. He announced at the beginning of June that he was out for 4-6 months. He obviously wasn't coming back this season so why run R/R for so long ? OK, a different rider probably wouldn't have reached the same heights, but a settled team member with a couple of months to get used to the UK tracks prior to the business end of the season would surely have been better ?

  3. "the contempt they have for the supporters"...what unsubstantiated nonsense you write! The injuries were unpredictable, without which we would still be top of the league, and as for "making no attempt to replace Doyle", that is uninformed drivel. Maybe spend some time away from the keyboard, in the real world, and you might see what is really happening.

  6. The transfer window or the Tai rule was put in place to stop promotions like Wolves bringing in riders for the play offs. The ridiculous knock on is you now cannot sign riders to cover injuries, even if all 7 are out injured. You have to take guests from the lower clubs who failed to make the play offs and these guests total devalue the sport at a time when the media are taking a greater interest. As a grim piece of icing, the folk that started all this are no longer involved in the sport. Grrrrr.

  7. I'll give NKI the benefit on this one.. I thought Buster was the culprit here for getting Simon in. But after your info, i'll have to give him the benefit on this one as well.

  8. Ben Trigger did well last night scoring in each of his 3 rides. He clearly benefitted from advice and practice at the track the day before. Unusual for a guest!! Well done.

  9. I think it an excellent choice. He completely owned the Glasgow reserves and I think it makes sense to make him feel appreciated as we may well want to use him again.

  12. No, you are supposed to keep all your named riders from the first match.... Even if you are getting hammered every week and your crowd levels drop...

  13. Connor had a very heavy fall in heat 2 he came out on another bike whilst he was riding that on track half the Oxford team were jumping on/kicking the bike back into shape. Connor has not performed to his potential at Oxford in previous visits. sure if Luke hadn’t been injured he wouldn’t have had as many rides but he still went out completed 7 races and only failed to score in one race and was the highest scoring reserve. He put up a good fight for most of his points. No disrespect to the likes of Sam and Scott but they are your top heat leaders and rightly or wrongly you expect them to put in maximum performance. Where as Connor we had no such expectations from him. He gave it his all and deserved the reward.

  17. Nothing sums up this forum like the number of people prepared to come on this thread and tell us how bad Cardiff is and how they will never go! Who cares? Those of us who make a big effort for the weekend seem to love it! My partner and I enjoyed meeting some great speedway fans from up and down the country, enjoyed the racing, couldn't fail to love the result and thoroughly enjoyed the impromptu Q&A with Tai after the event. Thanks Tai! We're also going to Riga & Torun, which will probably cost less together than Cardiff, but it is the only speedway themed weekend in Britain. Posters throughout the city centre, stalls with 'dodgy' merchandise on the Main Street, streets closed for fans - don't remember anything like that in Manchester for the SoN?? It would be great to see two SGPs in Britain but did Belle Vue do themselves any favours with their overpriced tickets, resulting in a big temporary stand looking empty? Again the two of us enjoyed ourselves in Manchester for a weekend, but lets not have a competition for the best - lets get together for both!

  18. And the issue such things happen is that these riders then get used again the following year... There is simply no deterrent at all... For some, getting a 28 day ban at this stage in the season is perfect as it means no risk of injury in the UK, which could impact where they earn the most, and also, risk the wrath of, particularly, their Polish employers.. "You won't do this again will you?" "No" "Good, here is your 2025 contract"..

  20. What absolute tosh tonight. No Iversen he is ill and replaced by Simon Lambert, and Tungate is still not fit.So that will be a 28 day ban for him. Iversen was bang in form,so expecting another loss for the Stars. Can't believe Buster said this was the most expensive team he had ever assembledšŸ¤” If I didn't have a season ticket I seriously would be thinking whether or not to go to this one tonight. If there is a next season, they can stick the season ticket where the sun don't shine.

  21. Personally I think there are enough riders for 7 teams, as long as the top riders are shared out. The likes of Sheffield won't like it, but then having 3 top riders, when Birmingham & Lynn were struggling to find one, doesn't do any good for the league.

  22. There's no doubt Flint has been a very disappointing RS for Birmingham this year. But he's still the third best in the league & when Dan T & Rowe are no longer "riding stars" next year, he'll be the highest averaged (in both leagues) RS available. Why wouldn't you want him back? Just because he's been disappointing / not got to grips with his home track, doesn't mean there's anyone better out there. Look at Leicester dropping Joe T for Hagon looked a sensible move, but now look to have ended up with possibly the weakest RS in the league.

  27. Just putting out there for any doubtful Plymouth fans, 2 inch of rain in worky Wednesday nite, storm Lillian due to dump another 2 inch tonight. So the track maybe under a little bit of water, caravan sites around Keswick evacuated major flooding in surrounding areas. But we will hopefully get our last league match in and finish in the top 4 and play offs despite people saying we had a poor side at the beginning of the season UTC

  28. You talk a load of old bull I know they tried and tried to get someone for Doyle …. Dudek was all agreed and then blocked last minute Doyle and Emil are irreplaceable…. Your only gripe can be that we built the team top heavy … a team like Leicester could cover Fricke How would Belle Vue cope without Bewley Kurtz and Lidsey like we have with Doyle Emil and Ellis …. Then they lose Ben Cook like we did Danny who still isn’t 100%….. then they lose Blodorn like we did Dan Thompson?? You are one of those fickle fans who can only moan moan moan …. Our promotion built a top side only to see it decimated and you blame them for it all We have been hugely unlucky and we just have to admit that and move on We Explored every avenue to replace Doyle and couldn’t and I know this for a fact So do us true Ipswich supporters a favour and stop posting drivel and rubbish

  29. Averages are not the be all and end all but top three home averages out weigh Workys top three away averges...this is not unusual I know, riders are human and have off days ...just that Kemp, Cookie and Batch had bad days at the office. It was always going to be defeat but I thought the Comets might have got 37-38.

  30. I wonder if the financials of the SoN have given Belle Vue second thoughts on staging a GP? With that being the only serious alternative maybe the announcement of a date has something to do with that?

  34. They seem to take pride in sticking with what they build over the winter and going with it until the end. It was Louis who made the pick and mix jibes against Sheffield last year, and before the Sheffield lot come on and say it was injuries and wasn’t their fault, they did sack a couple of British riders at the death. I always flip flop on the way we do things here. On one hand I’m a fan and want to see success, but on the other I find it difficult to criticise the way they stand by their riders when they need backing because they’re struggling. Others change their riders more often than they change their underwear, Leicester a prime example. Any neutral who doesn’t have a horse in the race should be backing Ipswich really for the way they do things.

  35. Not sure it’s ā€œbashingā€ the promotion here, I think everyone has sympathy (Ipswich fans) with what has happened beyond their control. That doesn’t mean they’re immune to any criticism though. Doyle has been out since the end of May, there surely has been options to re-giggle the team. If a like for like replacement for Doyle wasn’t available, then the option was there to release a rider lower down the order and make two changes. Lose some top end strength, but strengthen down the lower order. Jenkins to his credit has now publicly stated he was lucky to remain a Witches rider because of his poor form especially early on. We know they don’t like dropping any rider, we saw that with a clearly unfit Riss last year which cost us in the end. Some will back them with not wanting to drop anyone, others who crave success and want them to finally win a title after 26 years, not so much. All well and good being loyal to your riders and getting pats on the back for doing so, but the problem is Ipswich will always be a step behind the other clubs who are never slow to strengthen when the opportunity is there.

  36. I’m not getting all the promotion bashing at the moment. I have done my fair share over the years & indeed i did last year regarding the Riss situation. The fact that King will almost certainly be the first name on the team sheet for 2025 will also grip my s!&t. However this is the same promotion who have brought Doyle to Foxhall & then topped that off by getting Emil onboard. After years of watching poor top flight Ipswich teams having riders of the calibre of those two pulling on the witch is still sometimes dreamland territory. This year without all the injuries King,Thompson,Ellis x2 , Doyle & now Emil we would have walked to a double. Maybe after pulling of the coup of getting Emil perhaps they genuinely thought they could rework the magic & get Zmarlik over from for the run in. Failing with Zmarik & then going with Fast Freddie if the rumour is true would have been fine. Then the injuries to Emil & Adam hit. Lets get behind the boys in the cup final & play offs still plenty to race for before we look at 2025 & hopefully the 3rd year of the Jason, Emil spearhead.

  39. I dont think there can be one right minded person who actually believes that this new venue will ever be built. Considering he spoke against Speedway at the Coventry planning permission case, even Osborne himself must be amazed that any council, or newspaper, is actually taking his part in this seriously.
