  1. I agree I don't want to see any track close, I certainly wouldn't want it to happen to mine. I am glad the club is still operating, but I find the attractions they are offering, flat track racing, grass track bikes on shale, upright bikes, just not attractive to me. I know my track Berwick offer free entry to children every week and certainly get a lot taking up that offer. In the past they have offered free admission to service men and women on occasions as well. I suppose I "don't care" that the Isle of Wight were lost to the NDL, because they chose the path they are going down and the NDL is doing very well without them. If they wanted to come back in, then fine, I wouldn't be against it. I find it hard to argue that Isle of Wight are taking the sport forward when they seem to be relying on alternative racing and getting old riders from the 70s back to ride upright machines. To me it's not speedway, just a form of entertainment. If I was on holiday and saw that, I certainly wouldn't get me looking to find a local track when I returned home.
  2. Also a big nod towards Tom Brennan. Obviously a very promising, talented young rider. I heard him interviewed after gueating for Berwick last year. Came across as a very level headed young man. Thanked the club for the opportunity etc. To keep progressing as he has, after all the things he has been through over the past couple of years, speaks volumes for his character. Now to crash on Monday, be told by the doctors to rest for a couple of weeks, then come back two night later. Says all you need to know about the toughness of a speedway rider. A different breed.
  3. Well done Leon. Champion! And to Ace on a very decent showing, with a heat win and a second
  4. Can't agree with that. The standard was good last year and even better this year. I've seen a lot of good racing this year with the top riders in the league, Joe and Dan Thompson, Kyle Bickley, Jordan Jenkins, Jason Edwards, Nathan Ablitt. Some very talented youngsters coming through as well, Max Perry, Ace Pijper, Jody Scott. Every chance Workington and maybe Eastbourne joining the league next year. Doesn't seem to me the NDL is missing Isle of Wight to be honest.
  5. Go down the route of Isle of Wight and bring back Upright bikes, with riders from the 70s, or Flatrack racing. That should bring on the youngsters. It's all about the future. Or maybe just pick brambles while the racing is on. Or maybe copy Poland and bring in the Lucky Loser concept to spice up the playoffs and "make every heat count" (or not as it turns out).
  6. It was never close, thanks to the format, with only Torun winning at home last week. Every race counts? Maybe next year. Come on the Torun Losers.
  7. Bullets playoff meeting? Ah I see what it says on the website now.
  8. Credibility like the Lucky Loser playoff system?
  9. Both team A and team B are out because they have been beaten on aggregate. Unless football suddenly wants to adopt Lucky Losers.
  10. What I'm really hoping for now is the Lucky Loser to win their semi-final and in the final met the team who beat them in the quarter finals. Then the Lucky Loser beats the team who had earlier knocked them out of the playoffs.
  11. That would be even more hilarious if Team B would go through, despite an absolute hammering.
  12. I hope they're version of a meeting doesn't catch on. Even the meeting reports in the Speedway Star mention the vast differnce in the atandard of riders. I did laugh at the latest promotion gimmick in the Speedway Star. The promotion wasn't going to charge punters for picking brambles growing on bushes in the ground. Might have been more entertaining than the racing i suppose.
  13. Ha they had a good NL set up then took the huff. The standard of the NL has gone up in the last two years and IOW are left with grasstrack bikes, flattracks and the odd NL rider who cant get a team place. Is that really entertainment? Thats why they have to rely on gimmicks.
  14. So there was no incentive to finish top of the table if the number 1 seed in the semis is the team who scores the higheat points on aggregate in the quarters?
  15. Got mine for £25 on the day at the tickets office. Top tier, third bend, great view. And plenty space to stretch out and move about if you wanted.
  16. Considering three of these days were for the Championship Pairs and Cardiff GP weekend, plus only one team rides on a Tuesday night. What do you expect?
  17. Didn't know that to be honest, I'm too young (honest) to remember. I only found out about White City through a recent Speedway Star
