Now and then he will go by to see what is going on. He often watches it on the speed channel when they have it as well. No, he hasn't had the mustache for some time. It would be great to organize some sort of event down at the Paris Speedway where we could get some of these early riders out. I know he would enjoy that. He really seems to enjoy talking about that time of his life.

Hi there. I am new to this forum and have been looking around with great interest. I noticed here that Allan Kidd's name was mentioned. Indeed he is very well and about to celebrate his 80th birthday on June 25th. He has just returned from another visit to England where Poole honored him along with three other riders from that era. I know much of this because I am his son, David. Although I have never rode, I had always wished that my dad would have steared me in that direction. I suppose it's never to late to try. My dad and mom (Valerie) did do those commercials for those cigarettes and in fact have all of the original photos from that. My dad still loves to talk about that time of his life and you can see the excitement in his eyes. His only regret was selling his gear here in Canada. We have often talked about that and I am trying to locate a bike from that time period to honor him. Tough task, I know. My mom did do some modeling back in the day and you are correct, she was from Bournemouth. Maybe I can get some pictures from him of his racing days and post some. he doesn't use a computer, but I can certainly pass along any messages. Dave Kidd
