Talking of that, when i got to Brandon Stadium on Saturday night for the ELRC first face i saw was Alf Weedon, Jeez that took me back to the early sixties, what a nice man Alf is. Coventry was a real nostalgia trip for me, i used to live with my parents on the Rugby Road in Binley Woods, just about 600 yards down from the stadium, this was from 1966 to around 1970 when i got married. Mum hd the VG shop & we lived over the shop talk about open all hours.
So from childhood speedway of Rye House on a Sunday afternoon, coupled with long summer holidays at my aunt's in Edinburgh (yes the Monarchs) suddenely at 16 i was living riight next door to a speedway stadium, wow, Nigel Boocock, Les Owen, Ken McKinlay, also used to watch the lads doing cyle speedway round the back of the stadium including John Harrie (sp?) they had the farm down the road, i think i went out with his sister at one time!
Anyway it all came back to me on sat night, then at around 11:30pm after the meeting we were eating at TGI Fridays down the road & in walks Tony Rikardsson, what a night!
