  1. I have to own up to being duped!! Had phone call from "Head Office" about 12am saying Ward had got off. Took it as gospel but now see that she and I were victims of a wind up.
  2. I apologise profusely clearly on reflection Poole and Darcy are the entirely innocent victims of the anti Poole brigade.
  3. Once again Poole and Darcy get away with it and claim that they are the victims.
  4. I suspect the take up for season tickets has been disappointingly low , and probably no more than about 60 have been sold
  5. I have purchased two season tickets but based on 18 meetings they are not value for money. It is better value for money for a couple for one to to buy a season ticket and one to pay at the gate.
  6. You are another rotten apple as is anybody who does not see that Ged and Trevor are paragons of virtue and above criticism.
  7. Ward is a great rider, a star and any other superlatives you can think of. However he also needs to grow up and get a reality check and realise he is the author of his own misfortune.
  8. The grim reality is that Panthers are now second tier and most of those who are non committed will choose to go to KL, Leicester or even Coventry when there is a clash. And before the one who has described me as a rotten apple responds, I have bought my season tickets ( at least sent the money) albeit I do not see them as value for money.
  9. My father was very peripherally involved with Wembley Speedway and Ice Hockey mainly due to his friendship with Tot & Bill Williams who lived in Scarle Road Wembley. I know Sonny Rost was their lodger and their son was mechanic to Wally Kilminster. A long lost photograph we had shows my father in full leathers etc astride Wallys bike. I know that he went to many Wembley events using a Speedway Riders pass. He took me to many world finals but I cant remember either of Jack Youngs or Freddie Williams victories. The first I can recall and not sure in what order were Peter Craven and Ronnie Moore
  10. No but then it was not so long ago that I could have foreseen Panthers being there either.
  11. I went to that one with T Mills Tours. Told journey would be in modern coach , it was actually in bog standard single decker bus with no bog. Drivers were changed on the go without stopping. Had £5 of Polish money and brought it back with me as there was nothing to buy. No beer at Hotel as a previous coach party had stopped and consumed what stock there was.
  12. Not sure of the order but I saw Cravens and Ronnie Moores firsts
  13. Thanks for clearing that up.Anybody know the year Barry Briggs crashed and lost one of his fingers?
  14. Maybe I am wrong but do not think it was his first ride again I may be wrong but think it was his last. I have no doubt someone has the records
  15. Jessup certainly was leading and looked the rider of the night till his bike packed up , Malcolm Simmons subsequently claimed the failure was due to Jessups habit of drilling holes all over his bike to lessen the weight, a claim later denied by Jessup.
  16. Certainly do not recall any such races in the seventies, on the question of track records my memory is that times in in the original Wembley era were all in excess of 70 secs.
  17. I have seen most the old timers in action although people like Jack Parker were well past their best As Barry Briggs said recently Peter Craven certainly when winning his first title was not the best rider in the world.. What Craven had was the ability to perform on the big day. Personally I think Brian Crutcher was a better rider but unlike Craven froze on the big occasion. I can even remember seeing Bill Kitchen in action, also can recall when tracks were black not red.
  18. Jack Biggs comes to mind looking a very likely winner till a unexplained last place in his final or penultimate ride.
  19. Sadly ( and this to me is his problem) Darcy never sees that he has done anything wrong.
  20. I would also add Brian Crutcher at least the equal of all of them on his day
  21. For Gods sake whatever phrase or euphemism you like to use he was barred from the Grand Prix and subsequently suspended due to concerns that he had too much to drink.
  22. Of Course not he he merely failed to re hydrate
  23. Highly unlikely if they are any good at all they will already know what is available and where
  24. I don't quite see this conclusion. It may well be a business decision but the piece on Peterborough site is nothing new and I suspect reiterated in an attempt to deflect the current outcry from many Panthers fans.
