No, not wasting your time, information is always welcome in a debate. But from my point of view, I only suggested something that works for other televised motorcycle sport - I don't see why I have to be replied to in a condecending tone, although as I said before, maybe the way it was written wasn't the way it was read? And it's hardly being obsessive - it's the first time I mentioned it - and I'm certainly not looking for a fight. Don't stop posting your thoughts, ideas and information. It's all part of the debate. Hopefully something good will come out of it somewhere and who knows, some of the suggestions on the forum will be taken on board.

And as I suggested rmc, maybe Eurosport could use that feed at interval times as they used to and do today at moto gp and superbikes. My original post wasn't some ill thought point, more of a suggestiion for concideration. My reply to oldace may have been a bit flippant but the use of the exclamation marks suggested an irritated post by him. I stand by my suggestion that if cameras are in use around the pits and paddock, maybe (note 'maybe') they could be used by broadcasters including Eurosport? I can't recall saying that Eurosport had control of anything, I have no idea of any costs that may be incurred, I don't know what goes on in the board room meetings and how these decisions come to be made. I'm merely posting an opinion/thought on an open forum. Sorry for any offence caused but we can all be offended from time to time, it just depends on how the words are written and then understood.

Did you used to be a Headmaster?!!!! Well Sir, (sniff), there is obviously a camera around the paddock and pit area (gulp) as we've seen the riders in there so maybe that could be used (if it isn't already) and (shake), Eurosport could tap into that? (holds out hand waiting for the sting of cane on flesh!!!!) I know that when British Eurosport took on the Moto GP, (from plain old Eurosport), between races they used to go back to the studio and have lots of chat like mates down a pub, most of it retrospective or speculative. They've now gone back to wandering around with a camera whilst the commentators talk about (mostly) relevant stuff over the shots. Just a thought that's all. Have you got any? PS Should I bend over now or do you want to see me in your office after school?

How about a walk around the padock and pits like they do in moto GP and superbikes? No need to chat with the riders all the time, just show the bikes, the work going on and maybe have a bit of technical chat going on with someone in the know?

Had a conversation with DH a while back and he did say, quite genuinley I felt, that his plan was for a full blown stand with facilities (bar, W/C's, resturant?) being built where the existing stands are. He did say that this was a huge investment and he couldn't put a date on it.

I thought that the meeting was probably one of the best I've seen at BP. It had tension, incidents, close racing and plenty of passing ... If it wasn't for the cold wind it would have been a great night. Looking at the track, I think there was some additional dirt added, a reddish mix from Scunthorpe way I was told, and maybe it was that, combined with perhaps just the right amount of water, that gave us the entertainment. Maybe it's not just down to track shape after all? Great riding from both teams but I felt that our lads were just not on it at times, Bjerre and Nemo certainly not at their best. Maybe just an off night but a pity they had one together just when Somerset got their act together. With regards to the other matter, I don't agree with public dressing downs and certainly not in the heat of the moment. It would be best if they all got together and aired their grievences behind closed doors, sort something out and kiss and make up. We've got a good team, we need stability and a team mentality. The riders need support from the manager and the promoter, and if they are going to ride under a cloud then we won't be getting the best out of them. Also, I find it hard to believe that Mrs DH would be allowed to choose the riders for heat 15 (where did that little snippet of news come from?), surely that's the managers job?

Can't disagree with you there Robert, some great racing and great slow-mo replay, the best GP yet I think. The problem I've got is that you keep having a go at Leicester supporters who think the racing at BP is OK. I don't know if you've stopped going, but if you have, and you encourage many others to stop going as well, then we will loose Leicester Speedway because it won't be viable anymore. You might not like the racing that BP dishes up, and if that's the case then don't go, but I really can't see what you hope to achieve with your constant digs at the promotion and the track. I don't always enjoy the racing at BP but I do try and come away with something from the night out. I could watch a rider on his own and still get something from it and when there's four going round it's even better. Throw in some passing, and we do get some passing at BP, and it's happy days! I watched some of the slow-mo last night in awe. These guys really are talented beyond belief. The constant need to keep correcting the bike, watch for your opponents and the ability to control the bike in an instant when the track gives them grip or takes it away - incredible to watch. They certainly don't get the recognition I think they deserve. If you've got a few bob in the bank Robert then team up with DH, risk your hard earned as he has done, get the track changed and we'll all be happy. It's his business and I think we have to let him get on with it.

Well, your post suggested that the questions you raised hadn't been asked - "These would be fair questions How with a blank sheet,with tracks like scunthorpe,somerset,kings lynn as a template could you get it so wrong ? Is he worried about why so many fans have walked away because he refuses to make the changes needed for better racing." If you've already asked them, what did he say?

I'd heard that Ipswich were doing their utmost to get the track changed, they didn't like it at all. Barker was having a discussion, (about the track?) with someone (the ref?) on turn two just after his fall. I thought that the riding did become a little precessional the more they graded the track but heat 9 was very good and Bjerre was looking, and finding, gaps in all of his races and so I think that if the track has dirt, and the riders look for it, the racing can be entertaining at BP. I hope that Glyn can keep improving on what was served last night. A good meeting with plenty going on.

Well, looks like we all have our opinion about what the track should be like but it is what it is and some meetings are better than others. I'm sure we all hope that as the season progresses that the racing gets closer and, at the very least, we have a season of entertaining meetings with the Lions somewhere at the top end of the tables. As SueSpeedilyWhipsJim said, it was good to see Lewis score so well at Scunny. I don't know how true it is but there is a post on the Updates site that states that Lewis was riding with a borrowed engine that was much faster than his own. He was back to his own kit at BP and was over riding but he certainly looked an improved rider.

So you didn't watch the New Zealand GP then? There was a track as wide as you like, tons of space with long sweeping bends and as much passing, or less, than we had at BP last night. I wouldn't say I'm satisfied with the track as it was last night as I'd also like to see passing in every race, but where does that happen? I think that it will get better as the riders get used to it. It's one thing having practice laps but it must be different when you're actually racing with three others. I think Nemo was trying to use the new exit to turn 4 when he tried to pass Hall but Hall moved over and they almost came together. From where I was stood, the riders didn't seem to be using the new entry to turn 1, choosing instead to stick with the old line, but Doolan, Graversen and Nemo looked to be having a go into 3. I still don't think it's all about the shape and I think the track for the GP proved that. Wolverhampton is very similar to BP but that seems to provide good racing from what I've seen on the TV. Last nights meeting wasn't top drawer but I still think it's early days. Maybe a bit more dirt on the surface, (more water when it's needed?), and some confidence and determination, and we'll see some more passing? Whatever the recipe is for good close racing, I think we're still in the kitchen but not too far from the table.

Sorry Tina, just couldn't sit any longer and read complaints from the same old same old, I felt I had to say something. Call me weak, call me boring but I've had it!! I think having speedway back in Leicester is great and I just got so fed up with reading the same old pap (although I admit everyone is entitled to their opinion), that I had to put finger to keyboard. I would love to read other topics on this thread other than the track or promotion but this thread just keeps on getting hijacked by the same people using any stick they can get their hands on to beat the promotion with. On that note, I wonder, whilst I think Lewis Blackbird is an all out trier, (and what a cheer that was when he had his first win for us!), whether it was a good thing to let Lewis Kerr go full time to Newcastle? It was good for the lad on a personal development level but I think we may have let a 'Worrell' slip through our fingers.

I know what Robert, why not get yourself along to the after press day dinner and ask the promotion why they've done what they've done and then explain to them that it's not to your liking. I'm sure they'd be only too happy to listen. You could also ask Glyn if he's really unhappy or just p'd off at coming on here and reading the constant negativity that gets spouted by certain forum members. Maybe he's just fed up with it all ... who knows!? I don't think it's any of our business how the speedway in Leicester is promoted. If DH and his team want to run their business in a particular fashion, and charge what prices they decide is good for their business model, what's that got to do with us? You don't have to part with your hard earned cash do you? They may not have got the formula right, according to some, and if it ends up failing, it won't be the first to fold, or the last. If they've got it right, good for them for having the ambition and courage to put alot of money into a field and turning it into a success.

Ah, the whipper, resorting to insults as usual. Well, I think my carer has done a good job, thank you. Bless her, she's lovely. Whilst I try and take on board most posters views and opinions, there are some on here who will not let go of their one sided views, nor take the time and trouble to either ask those involved in the running of BP why they run their business in the way they do, (and not like they think they should), or take the time and go to BP to see the work being done themselves. They seem very happy finding the slightest reason to have a dig at the promotion and the running of speedway at BP. I know what Jim, why don't you buy DH out? You can team up with Robert and a few others, maybe form a consortium. That way, you can run Leicester Speedway as you know it should be run and it will be the biggest success story the world of speedway has ever seen. All I have done is posted things as I saw them. I saw that the kerbs were moved, the drains altered, and that 3+4 hadn't been started on. Also, new toilet block is going up and all the old porta cabins at the rear of the stand are gone. And a quote from Robert, "How can someone get a blank canvas so wrong in the first place ..." well, according to Jimbob, Sam set the track out before he went to the seaside ... so it must be his fault!

There were some drains on the centre green that looked like they'd been dug out of the ground so I think the drains have been moved/altered/replaced. Looking at the entrance to turn 1 from the exit of 4, there is a definite widening going into the corner so hopefully an improvement there for those that think it's needed. Looking at it, I'd have said that there was about a two meter widening to the corners. I don't know if this is what Glyn had planned but there are some on here already assuming that Glyn doesn't know, or have any input, as to what alterations are being made. Turns 3 & 4 are planned for this week, weather permitting, so can I suggest to those that are unhappy (already!), that they get down there and lend a hand. Whilst you're there, you can throw in your ten pence worth and voice your concern before the kerbs are set. I'm sure that your input will be greatly appreciated. We'll only know if these alterations will give us the racing we're looking for when the season actually starts. Until then, as I see it, there's still work to be done, both on and off the track, and all that is being done can only be an improvement.

Robert72, can I suggest that, instead of asking your question on here, and not accepting anyones answer, why don't you write or phone DH to ask him? If you'd have gone down on Sunday you could have shouted to him while he was with everyone else getting stuck in trying to get the track in a rideable condition ... and a good job they all did too!

Nice to read your comments too Glyn. It's a shame that some people just can't accept that other people have different views to theirs and resort to sarcastic and sometimes insulting responses to well meaning posts. Many people put leicester down last season, saying we had a weak team and four reserves. Well, we made the play offs with that team. Now some are saying we have a long tail again. I think we will prove them wrong again. Well done Glyn, I'll enjoy watching the Lions this season and there's nothing wrong with pushing for your boys to make improvements. Some on here just don't have your belief.

Aaaaarrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! The fans on this forum are obviously unable to satisfy your need for answers to all things track, stadium and promotion related. Can I suggest to you that you get yourself down to BP and go and ask those questions directly to those in charge. You'll find them very approachable, very friendly and willing to talk. Oh, and they listen too, something that you seem unable to do. It's a great set up at BP, (probably one of the best in the country?), all of the staff are friendly, and if the track changes bring about the desired changes to the racing then I think we will be the envy of alot of people.

I don't suppose you could give it a rest could you? Constant sniping at the promotion does nothing and we are all aware of how you, and a handfull of others on here, feel about the track. It's being changed in February and the fact that it wasn't done before cannot be altered. BTW, it's nice to see a rider who complained so much last season (according to you) signing up for us again. Apparently all of those now signed were keen to ride for Leicester ... or do you find that hard to believe too?

You maybe onto something there. Maybe Jim is really sudden Sam and he's dreading the thought that if we move up to the EL he may have to go back there!!

From the Lions website, looks like they're fully intent on joining the EL, that is if the others let them join in - Elite League Application The time is drawing ever closer to knowing whether our application to join the Elite League will be accepted. With the Annual General Meeting due to take place over a three day period starting on Friday 16th November we should be in a position to know which league the team will be operating in next season. Hopefully we will be able to share the news with you shortly after the AGM.

Thanks for the clarification, I was beginining to think I'd missed out on some important news. Looking forward to see the Lions again next season, whichever league they decide to ride in, and it would be nice to see some of this years team riding for us too. I'd like to think that there's room for Lasse, Nemo and Magnuss if we go EL and if we stay PL, I'd hope to see pretty much the same team as we finished with, with maybe Neilson included if possible.
