Sky sports would have had a get out clause and if they were only paying for the live meetings only the clubs would have nothing left to share
-
Problem is if bt sport has paid £0 similar to what eurosport pay for british superbike it still holds a value so a finders or negotiation fee could be charged or payable, bspa happy to use gospeed but surely they can negotiate themselves, what else has gospeed done for the sport?
-
Heard BT have paid £0 for the rights and will only cover their cost for live meetings this is why there are only 18 meetings planned across speedway which includes play offs so really 15 league meetings. I expected better, shame gospeed are still involved in sucking whatever is/was good left out of the sport Only positive is riders and clubs have a platform to promote sponsors

This is why if it becomed one big league its restricted to 16 teams, how they choose the 16 is another question but I'd pick the 16 with the best facilities, now can anyone name them? I am concerned about youngsters having 3 bikes plus van etc it's a joke I've been involved in MMA and at british level the amateurs and professionals all have jobs, all pay for their training etc and some pros get about £200-£2000 a fight max but they don't compete 4 times a week -
No rivalries coz doubling up has made everyone get along lol haye bellew have blown up the boxing but watch them kiss and cuddle after the fight tonight and show respect for one another

If you go one big league it would have to be 16 team with the rest forming part of an expanded national league. 30 league meetings Group format league cup Two legged KO Cup 40 odd meetings there.... Reduce the costs to riders through product, bike performance, tyres, fuel etc Minimun appearance fee guarantee Fixed points money for ALL riders based on position in the team I.e no1 higher point money, heat leaders main body then reserves, like a salary cap in a sense. Better marketing, media exposure so riders attract more sponsorship with league and cup comps sponsored. An expanded 5 round British championship fully sponsored with prize money and/or incentives like a mini gp series. No best pairs No 4TT No riders championship 16 team premiership or super league Belle Vue Rye House Poole Somerset Glasgow Ipswich Kings Lynn Leicester Swindon Wolverhampton Sheffield Peterborough Newcastle Berwick Edinburgh Workington National League Redcar Scunthorpe Belle Vue Birmingham Buxton Cradley Eastboune Isle of wight Kent Lakeside Kings lynn Mildenhall Plymouth Stoke 14 teams AS AN EXAMPLE No doubling up, there are enough riders to fill 16 teams -

Riding for one team only would work if the sport changes, reduced costs for riders would be a start and new money coming into the sport if marketed properly -

Losing any television coverage would kill the sport especially at premiership level as clubs and riders use the sky sports association to gain sponsorship this would dramatically decrease in value if there was no coverage, hence why sky will make the offer of just covering their costs but giving speedway its platform
-
British Superbikes do not get money from Eurosport or ITV, its given free to provide exposure for the championship to gain sponsors for the series, teams and riders and they do a great job. Speedway were fortunate to receive a generous deal last time as sky took title sponsorship, this time around they pay I believe per meeting that is broadcast that is all With them cutting costs would speedway say no to live coverage but all sky so is cover their own cost? Sky are in a great position at the negotiation table BT will be aware of all of this as would eurosport or itv4 etc Tv companies want alot more than what speedway currently offers hence why it needs more than just new logos and new names for the leagues, there is alot of work needed and to be fair the rebrand should of happeneded after the fundamentals were put in place Main issue being doubling up, the sport needs to regain its identity for clubs and fans, bspa needs fresh blood to take the sport forward into this era and to attract fans Speedway don't need a tv deal anyway but they are not savvy enough to look at ither options I've even attempted to show them
-
The old sky deal had money involved, this current one isn't great, speedway will not be able to sell its rights, it will have to beg a tv company to take it for free Unless buster replies to my email, no wonder the sport will never progress.....
-
I think the bspa have tried to make an effort for this year but have done it the wrong way, the rebranding of the sport won't solve problems, I can wrap a turd in shiny foil but it wont turn a turd into fudge. Two things should have been addressed Technical regulations to make it cheaper No doubling up Just look at Coventry
-
Speedway is a gimmick hence one off crowds for play offs etc to attract new fans you.do not need big stars You need close racing, cheap entry, good facilities and some form of appeal, for me what speedway can offer compared to most other sports is accessibility to its competitors, and the only way for this is No doubling up so fans only see their favourite rider loyal to them Riders as suggested already form part of the community and mingle with the fans more, perhaps more teams can do meet the riders before the meeting so young fans can follow them more close during the meeting Getting young kids involved in the parade etc, waving flags on the centre green or walking out as macots with the riders vand watching the warm up from the centre green And finally maybe in terms of identity, more british riders? Not an overnight fix but investment in grassroot speedway will help turn more people from mx, grass, even road racing to at least try speedway At lesst you can earn points money from speedway in comparison to moto3/125 road racing which costs £10,000-£20,000 a season with no monetary prizes, no everyone will be the next rossi, but who knowd some of these kids could be brilliant on a speedway bike

Sounds like a plan but I think these meetings should be scrapped in british speedway anyway -

Ok 3 groups of 4 inviting the top two national league sides, might be cannon fodder but will give them great experience -

I think for the next five years speedway needs to go kids free to attract the next generation and thats under17's of course if accompanied by an adult, if in that time the sport can get down to £10/12 entry or even grow commercially to attrqct bigger names and sit at £15 all the merrier Kids follow kids, if thats going to football, clubs, mma, cinema or kaspers -
Speedway is missing a HUGE trick with coverage and could do extremely well outside of sky sports and bt itv4 as well
-
Perhaps its too much pressure to cope and team league meetings is alot of commitment for a young lad, if it was split into regionalised individual leagues plus other individual meetings it may attract more to the sport who give it a go and realise they have natural ability... more mxers or grass track kids might do it BSPA need to invest in this area supplying the bikes, kit and have former greats offering tuition, would progress youngatets at a better rate. If most costs were subsidised do you think more kids from other disciplines would at least "have a go"
