2019 One big league will it happen.?
Danny Connor replied to Sidney the robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Didn't the bspa buy a bulk load of those sealed long life gerhard engines? If the club owned the engines and they were mandatory would that not be economic. I'm sure it wouldn't go down so well with the riders but if they were supplied and compulsory then take it or leave it? at least everybody would be on identical (?) engines loaned by the club. Its a bit radical but it might help -

Crowds have been stable over the last couple of season from my view. I guess the 1st couple of seasons in the el they were busier but that was because of enthusiasm of the move up. There always seems to be plenty of youths at lynn too. I don’t think it’s as doom and gloom at lynn as it is many other tracks. i hate the idea of 1 weakened league and I probably won’t attend as regularly as I do now. I love having lambert and Niels. There is a jump in class from them to the others. If I have to miss a meeting now it’s a big deal to me. If it’s all 1 championship and the prices are similar then that’s not really on. And I would maybe slacken a bit. the pl is still a good league. Very even really. And fixed race nights have improved the league in terms of more stable teams. Just not attendances. But it’s early days still. It needs people like the team gb branding team, who really seem to know what they are doing, to promote the sport in a better way at club level. Maybe if it was promoted better then more companies would be willing to advertise through it and the teams may be able to make it pay. It’s alright say8ng an independant body needs to run it but it needs to be the right independant body who can come in and make it more vibrant again. Give it meaning and purpose. Lynn won in a last heat decider on Monday and I felt like I was the only one buzzing about it. I was nervous before the race and buzzing after. Where has that fan passion gone? If we don’t care then what’s the point -

Lynn crowds are pretty consistent to previous seasons I would argue. Up on the 2nd half of last season. Pooles will pick up now they have a winning team with the casual fans probably returning. If most of the championship sides are struggling then it’s kind of expected. The 2nd league in this country is way too strong. I think the problem with that started in the early 00s when they altered the conversion rate. Used to be that a pl 10point rider was an el 5 point rider. The pl decided that is was independant to the bigger picture. Their garden was rosey and they didn’t want to slightly weaken. Now we have this situation where there are teams in the championship who are big enough to have stepped up. And teams signing riders they can’t afford to have just to try to keep up with them. if the advertising and pricing was right the crowds would be much bigger. It’s an old argument now but £18 is a lot of money to pay and it’s not going to attract new people. New people to speedway need to watch 3/4 meetings to get familiar with names and stuff. I was talking to a guy who went for the first time. He doesn’t want to part with 36 pounds plus extras for him and his wife each week too familiarise. Don’t compare the price to mainstream sports. They don’t need new fans. That happens naturally. Maybe give 3/4 free family tickets to every local school kid. See how many come back for all 3/4 meetings and hope some of them stick around. If it was 12 pound per adult there after I feel it would work. But if you keep weakening the product and not lowering the main adult price then there is a problem. You could get Grand Prix seats for 19 pounds. And that’s 2/3 levels above British speedway -
Was a good meeting and good result too. Swindon put up a good show and weren't too far from getting a point! Why was morris not in heat 15? i fancy you may have got a 3-3 Shame Garrity is hurting! I hope he gets a chance to show what he can do at lynn! its the first post meeting conference i have managed to make this season and i was very impressed! All fit riders there ! good communications! Newman will guest our next 2 meetings. so thats nice and early team news . . . . The moaners must be twiddling their thumbs!
-
Bloody hell. Give Garrity a chance. Terrible supporting! Not even constructive! And what’s more when bjerre was here most of the moaners didn’t want him. Fickle. Minority oppinion too I’m sure as usual.

Kings Lynn v Poole Monday 23rd July 2018
Danny Connor replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Racing was close just no passing. Swindon on the other hand. That’s what I cool poor entertainment. Halfway through that and it’s pretty terrible. what really matters is we won. It’s a sport. I really enjoyed the story of the meeting too. But winning is what matters. It should be entertaining and it was entertaining. Just not a lot of passing. If we lost this meeting I would say our season would have been over. But a win has kept the momentum going. It’s exciting -
It’s good times to be a lynn fan! I sense us going on a bit of a run and being on form when it matters. They’re doing us proud

This is exciting! on and off track!

Leicester v Kings Lynn Monday July 16th
Danny Connor replied to racers and royals's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think most lynn fans knew. Just most don’t use the forum! id be happy with a point from this! If our guys all fire at once then who knows. Maybe more. the forum isn’t really a gage for enthusiasm. It’s just a good place for a moan Lynn are doing alright this season. Come the final tally I think we will be playoff bound -
Lambert doing us proud again. I’d be happy with either Kai or THJ . I think that would set us up strong for the rest of the season. i see that young Czhech rider did well last night. I think he is their bright hope. I don’t know what he would come in on but I would be happy to give him ago as opposed to an Ostergaard . Garrity would be fun though!

I dislike Poole as much as anybody else but crying foul because they have good reserves is a bit dumb. It’s your choice how you build a team. Lynn with Kerr proctor and toft having spells at reserve are no different. It’s what makes it interesting really. Poole have weaker riders in 13 and 15 on paper. As long as there hasn’t been average manipulation used to get certain riders to reserve then I don’t see the problem

Kings Lynn v Leicester Lions 4/7/2018

Loving the people following the updates commenting . If you was there then you would realise that 1 crash happened where a rider was injured but shockingly the ambulance wasn’t available for 3 hours . . . NHS problem and a very sobering 1. Information was given. We were kept informed. Every effort was being made. At around 9:45 we were told the ambulance was returning. It did return after ten and racing commenced. Heat 7 there was a 3 rider crash where young Kasper was injured. An nhs ambulance immediately turned up, but the meeting was regrettably cancelled. This is not lawn bowls. Accidents happen. Injuries happen and it’s a budget sport. 2 ambulances would be perfect. But so would no injuries. Bit of heckling from fans annoyed me. And pretty much all the people around methought these hecklers were dumb asses. Harsh night but every now and then that’s how it goes. I’ll be there for the Poole one as would most because that’s what fans do. I know the loud minority will probably rip holes in tonight because they have nothing better to do. But that’s social media for you! I hope Lewis and Kasper are ok- 155 replies

Esberg have such poor PR clearly! lol Its the old fair weather fans Sh*tting on the club i support! I think the majority would love it if they were to just denounce themselves as fans rather than kill the good vibe the club has at the moment. I think the club always does its best. Maybe its not always perfect but look at yourselves. Critiquing on a forum 7 days a week! Your own lives are far from perfect! Close meeting tonight but i think 6-8 point win
-
Its a shame they moved up. I hope they run at some level in the future. a level that their hardcore could get behind.
-
But still some how its Busters fault to most???? A very Uninspiring team and fans just decide not to go. i feel sorry for the hardcore fans who go week after week. The fair weather ones i have no time for. the riders will find rides, most already have a team. The stadium had character 10 years ago. now its just a confusing mess.

To be honest. if it wasn't for the 1 over 8 rule then this years agm wasn't really that far out. Im anti 1 league because it means the talent that want to ride here are too diluted . its diluted now but further would really be a shame. I would limit double ups to 2 per team max. and weaken the 2nd league. if the Championship teams don't like that then put up or step up! the dropping pf the draft in the 2nd tier was a poor move. with the fixed race nights last year we let the tail wag the dog a bit. but still what did come out was progress. its not all as bad as it seems. its just getting people off their arses into stadiums. but thats a modern day problem with a lot of activities. not just speedway. I've been entertained this season at lynn. crowds are pretty consistent too and thats even when it ran against the england football. your never going to get big crowds weekly though. time has moved on. big events will attract. but weekly domestic won't change unless its something for nothing pricing

Somerset v King's Lynn 25/06/18
Danny Connor replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Great result for lynn. Good to see iversen scoring well. I hope he’s finding some good form for himself as much as lynn. It’s been a shame seeing him off form -
It was only Jorgensen and iversen that mattered originally before rose quit. Jorgensen was our first signing before anything was done. And when an iversen wants to ride in the uk for your team you would be mad not to sign him. Young jasper was just a punt. If he missed a few meetings he was easily replaced. Rose quitting has caused the toft problems. There is a positive vibe at lynn at the meetings and the moaners are in the minority. I hope other people who read the forum realise that.

The championship is too strong and the fact they ever get priority over the senior league is also a joke. In this situation Thursday. The 2nd division teams having a power over the top flight teams is a laughable joke. I fancied we would run Swindon close. Now I think we will struggle to hit 40. The cl angers me.if you want good riders then step up or shut up.

Kings Lynn vs Rye House June 18th
Danny Connor replied to Star Lady's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I thought a decent crowd. Not that far less than usual. Also thought some half decent races but unfortunately it was only 1 team really racing. A good result. Shame rye house didn’t really turn up but Harris and Nichols were competitive in some races. Andersen is struggling. Shame really. Hope he gets it right soon ish. It’s a shame we have to think about replacing him. How many points do we have to play with. Is it just 4 or is there some spare? I’d rather him get it right instead though -

I’ll be there tonight. Speedway is my sport! Surprised this 1 isn’t televised. Each to their own own I guess with the football. I’m trying to get the buzz for it but it just seems so overhyped. The complete opposite to speedway. only speedway fans knew about the speedway of nations. Nothing mentioned on talksport about our efforts but they Loosely mentioned a rugby challenge match. What does the sport have to do for recognition! On the other hand I hear all sorts football. Much time spent talking about minnow nations. It all just seems wrong. It’s overkill really. I guess somewhere money is king. Football monopolises over all other sports So speedway for me and I think at this point in time our sport needs as many fans as it can get. Stop drinking the Football cool ade and support your team .
