  1. Congratulations to Christian & can I say congratulations to Lubos on his 2nd place aswell!
  2. He did indeed, although I'm not sure exactly how long ago it was but it was this century. RIP Toni.
  3. Can't wait to read it then! If we can't have the real Hackney back, at least we can reminisce eh?!
  4. Possibly. Again, what about all this race throwing going on....certainly not what you could call "speedway racing" really is it! But hey, whatever anyone says about Crumps "bridesmaid" luck continuing, it will be called sourgrapes. It was good to see Jason shaking Nicki's hand though, I think both riders knew how much it meant... Good on Greg for winning the round though!! That's Hackney 95, Aussie 02 and now Norway where Greg has won the last round! Lets hope as Greg says he can start from the beginning next year! Sorry, Splatty, I have changed the subject, back to the subject then...
  5. Incidentally, a "miniature" team used to ride, in the early 90's every other sunday, (and some saturdays), under the name of the "Middlesex Magpies".....okay fair enough the "speedway bikes" were push bikes and the "riders" were all (all 3 of them) no older than 12 or 13 and the "track" was about 12 yards (or metres, whatever!) all round....but nonetheless we raced! Actually I remember one race where Brian fell in front of me and unable to avoid him my front wheel ended up all the way up his back!! Ouch!!
  6. It would be interesting to have a speedway team in Staines, the by-pass being renamed the pit-pass, and the supporters club being called, in true Ali-G style, ..."The Staines Massive" 8)
  7. Crump....he's been hungry for it since he set his stall out in 1996, he is the one who deserves it....seven years is a looooooooonnnnnnnnggggggg time, Nicki can wait a little longer (mind you I'd rather not see him win it anyway).
  8. It would wipe the smiles off their faces for sure!
  9. Can anyone shed any more light on this? Todd has been sacked by Bydgoszcz who claim (he won't ever ride for them again, haven't they heard he is retiring!). Apparently he turned up for his clubs match, but before that he needed to see the hospital about his ankle, they put it in plaster, he turned up with crutches and they accused him of being paid off!! The next day the newspapers were saying how he had let them down! How stupid and unfair :!: :?
  10. All I know is that I was about 8 months old (1982), Hackney Vs.....??? Cheetahhawk...can you throw some light on the subject?
  11. Can anyone tell me how the Dutch Championship is being run this year, is it still a Grand Prix, 6 riders per race, D,C,B,A final jobby or.....? Has Andy Appleton ridden in it this year or does he have too many other commitments? Also how do riders qualify for the Dutch Golden Helmet, is that partially based on finishing order from the Dutch Championship? :?:
  12. Ales Dryml Sr to name another, and am I mistaken or has Toni Svab tried his hand at it? Im sure he was riding in the Roelof Thijs Trophy in 2001 at Assen...
  14. Atmosphere wasn't AS good as 2001 (last time I went) and do wish people would make more noise from their mouths and stop relying on their airhorns, yeh sure it sounds great to a certain extent but after a while it just makes your ears numb!! Great atmosphere before and after, it's great seeing so many speedway fans all converging for one event, and it's great knowing 99% for certain that the police wouldn't be needed for any trouble, in the eyes of the Cardiff organisors and Cardiff police Speedway must get top marks 8) Racing wasn't great but although there wasn't much passing there were some pretty close battles and I give full credit to Scott, Nicki and Jason for "not giving up" until the checquered flag was waved! I agree about the parade, coming out through the tunnel is a much better way to do it, we can see the riders on the trucks any old time up and down the country :? 2001 marks>:>:8 out of 10 2003 marks>:>:6 out of 10
