MV has been a total failure ever since he came to Stoke. He is simply the most experience loser now and at Stoke he's has taken losing to whole new low level. His post match comment from this meeting is priceless, he says "we simply are not winning enough races and it’s costing us." Really Malcolm? How astute ha, ha, ha.

Well, miracles do happen. It has to be said that Buxton are a poor side, and their R/R only produced 1 point, but you can only beat who is on the track with you. Well done to the Stoke 'riders'.

Stoke V Belle Vue (nlkoc) 14th May
iannewsman replied to crazysue's topic in National League Speedway
I don't take any pleasure in seeing Stoke fail. I just can't believe the arrogance and contempt for fans that comes from the promotion year, after year, after year, after year, after year... It is the promotion that fails every year. -
Well, those changes worked. Another home battering. Roll on 'Joke Speedway'.

Well, another battering for the mighty Potters and at home again. Still no win in 2016 and no doubt more excuses will come from the inept lot who run the place. Can they go through the whole season without winning a match point? Well, it's looking possible so far...Roll on 'Joke Speedway. -
Stoke Potters Sadly, The Perennial Failures
iannewsman replied to iannewsman's topic in National League Speedway
There won't be any insurance to claim on. To quote the promoter, "No company will touch the place as we've been broken into so many times." They haven't had that sort of insurance cover for many years. -

Stoke Potters Sadly, The Perennial Failures

It wasn't, that was my point. It never has been. Yes and again you missed the point. Nothing won as a 'team' AGAIN! The pairs is just down to the riders efferts. -
Stoke Potters Sadly, The Perennial Failures
iannewsman replied to iannewsman's topic in National League Speedway
The fact remains that the Stoke Potters have never won any 'team' silverware under this promotion and management. It has been a steady decline and slide down the speedway ladder. Yes, the manager picks the team and can't ride the bikes, but they can sack the under performers and get others in. They failed to do that to any effect in the PL and it continues in the NL. Yes they won the pairs and this proves my point, take management out of the equasion and Stoke win. The pairs is all down to the riders. Put the management back in and they lose time after time. I don't hold with all that 'this season was better' nonsense. As a team (4 and 7 rider events) they have failed again and again for years. The Stoke Potters under this promotion have won nothing! -
Well, after my 'discussion' at the beginning of the season and Mr Vasey basically asking everyone to 'wait and see', so I'm here to say well, we have seen and what did we get? The same flops as before. What have we seen from the Potters this season? Yet again, nothing won as a team. They finally wimped out of the NL 4s yesterday and floped in the NL. Yes, they won the pairs but that has nothing to do with the team as it is down to two riders. No management input there. 'We made it to a final' they will say. 'You got battered in that as well' I say. If you leave it to the management and the promotion you just get failure after failure. They can't even post any news, let alone an apology on their website as it has been closed for almost all of the season, why? If you go on the BSPA web site and look in the NL section you find the last press release from Stoke was on the 9th Serptember and prior to that it was 30th July. In the news section you have to go back to the 16th July for something about the Potters. So again I say to the management and the promotion...GO! You have dragged the Stoke Potters down to the lowest level of speedway and still the acheivements are pitiful. So come on Mr Vasey, what about some excuses for this season? Oh and don't bother with the 'Ben Wilson left us in the lurch' excuse as that happens to all teams and yet most seem to find replacements but Stoke never do and it has gone on like that for years.

Stoke Speedway Track Work Update
iannewsman replied to Swift Saint's topic in National League Speedway
I still stand by my comment about a lack of confidence and I ALSO included a link to the full article in order for others to read it and make up their own minds. So no need for Mr Vasey's comments or to post the article. It rather shows that he doesn't even read the posts properly. I have been a speedway fan since 1969 and I love the sport, sadly, my nearest team, Stoke, has gone down and down since I started going...FACT! Mid table PL to bottom of the NL...FACT. No chip, no hard feelings, just sadness to see my local team plummet to the bottom pf the speedway world. How would your average Stoke City football fan feel it their team was seen to fall to the bottom of the football ladder? 1. The manager would be sacked and 2 they would be calling for the head of the Chairman. So what is different? -

Oh Malcolm that is pathetic. I know that piece of legislation extremely well. If I say anything that isn't true then fair enough. But opinion backed up by fact is perfectly ok. I would be very happy to test it in court. If you wouldd like to read you last post again I think you will find the law of libel could be used for some of that. I have been a journalist for 30 years and an internet journalist for over 6 years and opinion is allowed even if those who disagree don't like it. I am very happy with my life and more than happy that I don't waste my Saturday nights supporting a promotion that not only don't deserve it, but also never appreciated it. I have more than enough recorded and documented proof to counter anything you and the promotion might have. You don't scare me. What I stated is true. -
Stoke Speedway Track Work Update
iannewsman replied to Swift Saint's topic in National League Speedway
You have hit the nail on the head there my friend, as that is what Stoke has needed for over 20 years...Good management! No, we are shooting the man who came in when Stoke were in the PL and he has been there as they have slid down to the NL and to last years fiasco season of being bottom and not completing the fixtures. If he comes on here as the spokesman and puts himself up as the public face of the team (after all he is the Co-Promoter/Team Manager and Press Officer) we are entitled to have a pop when the team is as bad as it has been. As I said, If he comes on here as the spokesman and puts himself up as the public face of the team (after all he is the Co-Promoter/Team Manager and Press Officer) we are entitled to have a pop when the team is as bad as it has been. -

A direct quote from Mr Vasey in today's Sentinel newspaper, "The National Trophy is a competition that we want to do well in and winning your home meetings will go a long way to making that happen." This shows to me a typical lack of ambition and resignation to failure already. Surely, at this early stage in the season he should be saying, 'The National Trophy is a competition that we want to WIN!' No confidence in your team again Malcolm? I have been a speedway fan since 1969 and the product today is just so sub-standard that I agree with others, any speedway is not better than no speedway and Stoke proves the point.
-
As unprofessionally as Stoke. It isn't even the beacon of mediocrity is once was, it has sunk to the bottom. If Stoke Speedway was a race horse, a vet would have shot it, to put it out of our misery!

Oh Semion you really are having a laugh. Stoke will never go back in the PL while that bunch are running the place. There have been more false statements and false promises come out of that place than you'd hear in a fraud trial. That's why the place is called NEVERLAND, because it will never achieve anything worthwhile. Stand alone NL tracks like Stoke are 'stand alone' for a reason, they can't achieve anything else because they are on the way out and can't drop any lower. A once great club has been mismanaged into slow extinction and Malcolm has played his part in that. When he came in they were a PL team. All his previous experience was at NL/Conference level so I guess he's happy he's now got the club down to his level.

I hear the price of season tickets has gone up by £10. Not bad for a business that owe's the fans two meetings from 2013 and one from 2012. I would think anyone buying a season ticket for 2014 is taking a risk. Firstly, the promotion has shown that, not only are they incapable of completing a fuil season of meetings, with the ways things sound down there, who can guarantee they will even still be in business for the whole season, let alone run the full fixture list? Last season they ran 15 meetings in a year with more than double that many Saturdays. If you include Sundays and bankholidays (5 days) you have around 65 days on which to stage a meeting. Yes, I know about the stox, but let's face it, they are only there because the speedway has been run into the ground and their money bales it out. But remember this, the summer of 2013 was one of the hottest and dryest for 50 years, so no excuses please. There will be about 15-17 meetings (9 teams in the NL so 8 home meetings and few cup and other matches, depending how the team does in the cup) due to take place in 2014 and the season will have 32/33 Saturdays in it, so who needs to save that little amount anyway? An adult season ticket is now £170, divide that by 15 you get £11.33 per meeting. Hardly a gread saving (0.67 pence) as it was only £12.00 for an adult on the gate in 2013. So you can expect to see prices at the gate go up to £13 or even £14 for an adult in 2014. So let us take an increase of £13.00 as an example. Now you have a saving of £1.67. Still not enough for a bottle of beer at the bar and only about the cost of a half pint. After the woeful performance of last year (The team on the track and the promotion not completing the fixtures) I would have thought a price increase is a real slap in the face to those ever dwindling number of loyal fans. As I said before, will they have completed all the fixtures or even still be in business come October 31st 2014?

Mildenhall V Stoke - Ko Cup Final 1st Leg
iannewsman replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
Where's Mr Vasey with his comments? He doesn't usually duck out of sticking up for his riders. The newspaper ramblings of Mr Louis or the web postings of Mr Vasey have nothing to do with any violence or bad behavior among supporters. They were adults and are fully capable of being responsible for their on actions. I wasn't there, but I'll bet the majority, if not all, of those causing the trouble were older than the young riders involved. Some people are just predisposed to bad behavior and don't need much to set them off. As for riders picking up spanners etc. Well, it was the climax of an important speedway match and riders will already have the adrenilin flowing, so perhaps it isn't too surprising (While not condoning it). If the fans had behaved themselves and stuck to just verbal anger instead of apparently acting like thugs, then it might not have got out of hand. Perhaps a few are watching the wrong sport or maybe they are ex Milwall hooligans who moved to the Fens? -
Club statement: STOKE Easy Rider Potters have signed grasstrack star Tim Nobes for the remainder of the season. Nobes comes into replace Ben Reade at reserve and makes his debut in the home meeting against Newport on Saturday night. Nobes joins the Potters as a full asset of the club and has signed with a view to being with the club next season. Promoter Dave Tattum commented “Tim has come highly recommended by Ben Barker and skipper Tony Atkin and several other people within the sport. He is very successful on the grasstrack scene and is a regular front runner in those meetings and many people have likened him to Jason Garrity. He has a huge following on the grasstrack scene and having seen him have a few outings here at Loomer Road we decided to get him signed and to give him his chance. We wish Ben (Reade) all the best for the future and would also like to thank him for his efforts throughout the season.” Easy Rider Potters team manager Malcolm Vasey said “It was not easy to tell Ben the news that he was being replaced and he will remain in the squad, but it was felt that we had to do something and having heard the recommendations on Tim and knowing he is one of the top grasstrack riders in the country we felt he could be a trump card for us.”

Ben Reade was told today that he is no longer wanted. Nice to come this far then get kicked out. I reckon it is a panic move as this morning it was confirmed that Cameron Heeps is fit to ride for Mildenhall. Hard luck Ben

For those who think it was just a "misunderstanding" that the meeting was delayed, please look at the referees comments at the end of this article in the Stoke Sentinel. http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/Speedway-Medic-delay-threatened-meeting/story-12839821-detail/story.html If I was a Dudley fan I would be looking for at least a partial refund.
