I wasn't a Norwich fan. New Cross and West Ham were my teams, but I did have a soft spot for Norwich as the first match I ever saw was New Cross v. Norwich, with the great Ove Fundin scoring an 18 point maximum.

I did hope to become a Norwich fan when, in 1964, I put down Norwich as my choice of Teacher Training College purely on the basis that I would be able to see Norwich every week. Sadly, between my application and my actually starting at college, Norwich closed! I only went to King's Lynn once.

P.S. Not only did I not see Norwich while at college, I didn't become a teacher either. If it wasn't for the fact I had a really good time at college, it would have been a complete waste of time!

But you went on to become a household name as an author!

I have just watched this with great interest, tinged with a touch of sadness. The memories of what we have lost in Speedway came flooding back. I never got to Custom House but I can appreciate the efforts of those who put this film together. It is a great watch.

Thank you very much for posting this.

Pity you never got there; it was a fantastic place to watch speedway.

Of course we are all advancing down a particular road which is unavoidable but I've quickly glanced at the year 1972 and starting line ups of teams appear to have a few that are still with us...my team Oxford have so few now with us? If I'm mistaken nearest rivals Swindon all of their 1972 team are still with us for example?

Funny thing is, when you made your original post, I immediately checked the Dons - and only Ronnie, Tommy, and Slim Jim are no longer with us.

Yeah, of the Swindon team, David Ashby is the only one, and he wasn't a regular that year.

Until last week, all of Hackney's 1972 regulars were with us, and then we lost Laurie Etheridge.

Actually it's on FB I've seen more people against the Doyle inclusion, very disappointing tbh. Thought the majority of fans would want the best riders in the series, unlike the FIM we don't have to worry about viewing figures etc.

The problem is that, while they CLAIM they want the best riders, what they actually want is their favourite riders. Then, they will use every excuse in the book (age, nationality, ekstraliga average, "a need for new faces" etc), in an attempt to validate their view.

You are so deluded. Iknow you love artem like a family member but the reason he cannot ride for poland is because he is russian. Thats where he was born. My partner is polish but lives in england. Shes travels on a polish passport because thats where she was born. She is no more english than artem is polish. Oh and by the way i didnt see zmarlik looking uncomfortable in torun

So why didn't Mark Loram ride for Malta? Ronnie Moore was born in Australia, Bob Andrews was born in England, Rune Holta was born in Norway, Bill Landels was born in Scotland, and Tadeusz Teodorowicz was born in Poland. Your point is?
