Not a bad shout at all there frigbo (I'd expect nothing less from a man of your calibre ). I managed to stop you getting a clean sweep (well not quite) by not letting you look at #3 !! Easier for me to highlight the one's you didn't get right: 12 13 - The jury's out on this one . We've had Hellsen and now Ray Morton - I actually don't think it's either but we'll keep this one open 15 Deserves a special mention - well done for getting David Bargh Thanks Frigbo.

8. Yes, he of the Robert variety - was the name on the leathers a good clue ? 9. Yes/c'mon; have a shout at the other rider !! 10. Yes / - don't let falcace hear your say that............... 11 Yes 12. Well done ! 13. We might all have to take a vote on this one. I dont think it's Hellsen but Sean Wilson is correct. We'll see what the consensus is on the "Star" 14. No/Yes 15.Yes/Yes/No/Yes Thanks Maddriver

and of c urse there was the ever smiling Bengt Larsson at Sheffield....

Blimey, I'd forgotten about Zabik and Blasczak! Zabik won his first ever (at Owlerton - made his debut at Eastbourne) race for the Tigers (I think ! - or am I getting him confused with Rauli Makinen ?). Couldn't speak English but always had a smile on his face. A nice guy. Blasczak - wasn't he nicknamed "Yogi Bear" ??
-
Yes Wayne Brown did have a storming match and finished the season in excellent style. I thought he was going to hit the big time in '83, but alas he never returned from NZ and his talents were lost to English speedway forever. We did have the excellent David Bargh though.....................

Have to say my favourite meeting of all time was when my team (Sheffield) went into the last heat of a meeting at Hyde Road in '82 leading 37-35. Needless to say PC and Mort. did the deed and got a 5-1. Great meeting. Great race. Lousy result. You remember it Falcace ?
-
Did Weislaw Patynek ever ride beyond his debut for Sheffield ? (at Eastbourne). I seem to remember him injuring his back and not riding for the Tigers after that - I don't remember seeing him ride at Owlerton
-
That's another fine race you've gotten me in to.

You weren't a fan of The Jam by any chance were you Steve ? -
Gary Middleton was tragically killed in a track crash at Wolverhampton's Monmore Green stadium in 1975 That was Gary Peterson Humble apologies
-
....and if memory serves me correctly I think the accompanying slogan was "Crowd stopper"
-
Hate to say I told you so! Thanks falcace. Seems my ploy to plant a few "deliberate" mistakes got found out.............now get back in yer anorak..

Andrew I give you a round of applause - Nigel Flatman it is. He has lived in Perth for many years (close to "my" home - I live in Perth) and I've watched him at Claremont (no longer exists - went last Sat. to Claremont for the Royal Show. Speedway track completely grassed over ) and more recently Kwinana - about 28km south of Perth. Kinda spooky when I've only before seen him ride for the Witches (not even seen him ride for P'boro). I used to work here in Perth with a bloke that bought a house from him. He - Nigel - is now retired, and runs a limousine company in Perth. That's enough trivia for today. got to say without doubt picture 21 is Alan Farmer no way is it Nigel Flatman Thanks Tyler42. I was fairly confident on this one but I bow to your superior knowledge. Seems the best part of 20 years blurs the memory...............

Shouldn't this be extra anorak marks ???
