Oxford Spires 2025

Recommended Posts

Don't know what happened to Janowski in 2024, maybe losing his GP spot hit his confidence. I thought he was very unlucky in that regard having been on the podium the previous year.

But the same has happened to Madsen this year.

If Janowski can hit the ground running he hold his own in the Premiership as a #1, Tungate is reasonable backup.

No one can expect Riss or Wright to be much more than be solid #2 & #4. Possibly match winning reserve?

Another hear leader is required, hope Spires can pull a rabbit out of the hat. If not Janowski & Tungate are better heat leaders than any riders Kings Lynn have signed

Things not going too well for Oxford, it seems. Unable to fill their teams but able to announce that admission prices are going up next season (only by £1). And they intend to charge £2 to park in a car park they don't own and which is a 10 minute walk from the track? I know, be grateful that speedway is back at Oxford...

I’d imagine the car park cost is because of the cost of the car park changing to the speedway, or the bus company increasing their hire cost.

Cost of everything has gone up countrywide. Can’t blame promotion for that!

This hits single travellers more when it’s basically £2 per person, where as four in a car would work out just 50p each

I agree, Mr J. I'm trying hard not to criticise the promotion here! But the reality is that any individual who decides on the day to attend a Premiership meeting at Oxford - and then parks at Unipart, even with no intention of using the coach - is now paying £27.

It’s Mrs 😉

I normally come to Oxford by myself but for championship matches. With the distance I travel (90 minutes each way) a £3 increase for entry and car park is bearable providing I remember to book the night before.

it’s still cheaper for me by a long way to get the livestream!

Sorry, Mrs J - a basic sexist error on my part there. I recall having a conversation with a female Peterborough fan as we walked back to the car park after a meeting at Oxford last summer. I guess that could have been you! Hope to see you next season (not that I'm trying to turn the BSF into a dating website, but who knows...) 😄

But are they also not entitled to make a profit for their business?

Of course, I never said they didn't, just pointing out they have money if needed to somebody who seemingly questioned the funds available (not you).

I don’t agree with this different price on the day.Never have.

It could work against clubs, there have been times when I'm not sure if I'll finish work early enough to go to a match, then on the day I have to question if i want to pay extra to get in & that's often a deal breaker for me.

A lot seems to be heavily reliant here on Magic..

If he turns up in April all guns firing then yep brilliant but if he has tinkered with bikes and engines in the winter and the damp cold wet nights in the 1st few months and you get a pre may last year Magic your bang in trouble i would say..

He started on an assessed 8, By the end of May he was on 5.28, by the end of July 6.04 and finished the season on 7.02..

From what Riss said .Team looks good for next year ..So i imagine  there is more top riders to come ...

He's gonna say that though isn't he? It's a very generic thing to say when you've signed for a team. He's not gonna say 'despite the team looking sh ite I decided to sign anyway'

In addition to speedway, I am an Exeter Chiefs rugby supporter. There is no parking at the Sandy Park Stadium and you have to pay £10 to park a car and use the shuttle bus. This is in addition to the £65.00 ticket entrance. Most rugby stadiums are the same, so needless to say I do not go very often.

But we speedway folk moan about a £2.00 parking charge!

Just saying there is more to come..Wealthy owners..

But wealthy people are often wealthy because they don't throw their money around. Unless they've reached a stage of life when it doesn't matter any more.
