He's a rider with absolutely no confidence in himself when riding in the Prem. When he downed Jenkins it was the start of lap two, he'd been all over the back of Jenkins up to then and was obviously faster than him, all he had to do was bide his time and he'd have passed him easily. The incident in heat 11 was abysmal, both from Etheridge and the referee. Riding a wide line he was well behind Fricke and there was room for him to continue that line as Fricke wasn't that close to the fence. Why he chose to change his line, across the front of Cook, only he'll know. The same applies to Ackroyd as to why he excluded Cook....unbelievable! Don't know what Etheridge was on last night, but his head wasn't right, he came out in heat seven with the wrong helmet colour, pity he had to have three rides! Probably had the hump because he couldn't get anywhere near Cooper all night 🤣
InTheDeepStuff
Etheridge knew he was the wrong for both accidents and he did wait at the pit gate for Jenkins when he walked back to the pits and apologised they both had a handshake and moved on. After Cook returned to the pits again Etheridge went over handshake again with a few of the Aussie boys in the pits having a laugh over it. Not seen Etheridge pull a ‘dirty’ move on anyone whilst watching him this season, he’s generally been behind most riders anyway 😆
DaveWayne
From where we were stood on turn 3/4 it looked like Etheridge realised Fricke had beaten him to the outside dirt line and he tried to cut back inside onto the home straight but he turned too tight and locked up causing him to slow and giving Cook nowhere to go. There was no intent to cause a collision and had he not locked up he would probably have got away with it. But, even as a Tigers fan, I immediately said that Etheridge has to go as he was the cause of the accident. Was very surprised to see Cook's light come up.

Honestly think Ref's should spend a day or two learning how to ride a speedway bike just for the experience so they can better understand race situations, or even have a rider from the riders association give a talk to them pre season so they could help identify some of the nuances of racing. The ref's read the book as its wrongly written, "the leading rider can choose his or her line" Can you provide the detail of the rule ( regulation) number that says that please? I doubt it is written down quite like that, but we have all seen over the years how riders and managers have argued that when i rider is in front they get to choose the line (mostly this is going into a corner not out). So i believe most ref's will always act on who hit who and not why, its like their thinking is very rigid and no room for grey areas.
