  1. You are a star a lot of people travel long distance to see speedway and require sustenance less than three hours don't think so. My wife is a type 1 diabetic and has to consume food to keep her sugars staple. I was on the road and needed something to eat and drink other than from a hole in the wall. I'd have gone in the bar if I'd have been allowed too. Enough said.
  2. We were stopped from going in the bar for a pint and a warm and reduced to a hole in the wall serving £4-50 lager plus stodge and chips. It was made clear we couldn't consume something healthy brought by ourselves plus my wife is a type 1 diabetic. The racing was poor and viewing constricted. Having spent years attending the most basic stadiums and fields watching Grasstrack it was a dreadful experience. For a new or occasional supporter they would never return. The stadium and speedway are separate entities but it's up the to the speedway team to negotiate something that make the paying fans welcome and wanted. I won't be returning.
  3. After my last visit to Perry Barr I called time. I was made to feel unwanted and not welcome. Very cold very hungry and utterly despondent. I only wanted my flask and a sandwich....no chance. Fried rubbish or nothing....bye bye Brummies.

    British Speedway

A speedway track needs an income to pay the bills. Attracting a younger clientele at an affordable price may stop the closures?

    British Speedway

Speedway was always an affordable working class family orientated sport with local riders mixed with the odd foreign rider looking to the future. The promoters have changed it to an expensive elderly male orientated sport looking inwards propped up with expensive foreign riders Wolverhampton and CVS seem to be leading the charge.

So why is British Speedway on life support and European Speedway is healthy?

    British Speedway

I can see where you are coming from but entrusting our fragile sport with these remote individuals is rather naive. There are genuine supporters who will empty their pockets to keep their beloved sport but the way in which the sport is managed is rather haphazard. Ultimately no fans equals no speedway this is conversation that needs to be carried on.

Just asking why was it silly? I'm just so worried about the number of tracks closing or in dire straights. Now Birmingham are making changes for survival. Unfortunately the BSPA are sitting on their hands while genuine supporters are organising and addressing the critical situation. Realisticly 6 teams for 30 race nights is financially unsustainable.

Oh no more foreign riders. What about the future how can you expand when your contracting grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!

Why are you protecting the promoters and riders we who pay their wages and keep the sport afloat expect more. I think your living in the 1970's !!

Has anyone noticed the silence emanating from riders and promoters?

Don't do it. If you put money into a business you need it to be certified and a share of ownership in the company. Avoid !!! Speedway promoters tend to be slippery as we know.

    Wolverhampton 2020

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. Wolves are probably stable but it's British Speedway in general that's in trouble. We really don't know what the situation is as the promotion/promoters say nothing. What a ridiculous position who actually runs British Speedway and what is their position regarding the future? With tracks closing at an alarming rate and other announcing their dire position a more serious pragmatic approach needs to be taken. Ignoring the future has left British Speedway on life support. No training tracks, no training schools, no engagement with local riders, Grasstrack. Going for the nuclear option to bring in expensive non committed foreign riders makes a difficult situation even worse. Am I missing something, in the past there was a possibility for locals to give speedway a go on borrowed equipment. A bunker mentality isn't going to sort out British Speedway.

    British Speedway

Well done Jan it's great to see a rider who has such an interest and committent to British Speedway. Speedway supporters tend to be a bit inward and hit out because you are touching on the realities related to the difficult position British speedway finds itself in. British Speedway promoters have always been remote and aloof and personally rather slippery that's why we are in the position. What you are saying is so right everyone needs to pull together else we will loose what is a wonderful spectacle and sport.

    Wolverhampton 2020

As said head in the sand and severe anorak behaviour. The way it's going there won't be any teams to race against get real. You need to look beyond Wolverhampton, there is a bigger picture.

    British Speedway to be reborn??

It's time for the supporters, promoters and riders the remove their Anoraks stop arguing about statistics and get into action. What we all want is affordable exciting racing that we all enjoy. Do it or loose it !!!!!

    Wolverhampton 2020

I've got the rumours about Wolves closing could anyone define what's happening?
  18. It's probably a bit sensitive and CVS is a bit feisty. PM me what happening and what's going wrong for them to pull the plug? I'm very discrete. Just come home after 10 hours on Chemotherapy.

    Wolverhampton 2020

Wolverhampton can run a speedway team but they need to field a team containing British riders and affordable ones too. The promoter and his followers should lower their expectations and they might survive. It's so sad when there are riders local to Wolves who would relish the opportunity to race. What about a Shale Track Racing Venue as I'm sure Entain wouldn't turn down a viable prospective proposal.

    Zenon Plech RIP

Fantastic rider first saw him in 1972 always round the boards on full throttle and not shy of pulling the odd wheelie RIP wonderful memories.
  21. Does anyone have any information about the line up for the next event at Bromyard?
  22. Agreed but it's become a deluge. Something drastic has happened to our climate we haven't had a single frost yet. I remember cold frosty nights rounding off the speedway season. Naa can't blame Brexit on this one lol. Modern bikes don't like mud and safety is such an issue with the bikes going so fast. As I've bleated on before stadium racing would be useful though most have had houses built on them.
  23. Yes I saw it yesterday. What a pity as it was an excellent line up. Blame climate change we never had rainfall like this in the past it was always crisp, cold and dry.
  24. Lets hope the Isle of Wight format can be rolled out at other tracks too. While not a replacement for speedway it's an excellent opportunity for part time riders to race use their equipment and possibly get paid. Well done to the promoters for taking such a bold step.
  25. Sadly the weather forecast is dire so probably another cancelled meeting?
