  3. Just an update to say that Carmarthen will be holding their Four Nations Tournament between Australia, England, Scotland and Wales on Saturday October 16 (time to be confirmed) Further details regarding riders, times, etc, will be posted on the Four Nations thread under the Conference League heading.
  4. The Carmarthen Dragons are holding a full Vintage Speedway meeting on Sunday October 3rd at 3.15 pm. More details of the riders involved will be posted here when they become available.
  5. The Americans have been in contact with Carmarthen in the hope that a meeting can be fixed up next year during their tour of the U.K. Also Nigel Meakins is hoping to arrange a Four Nations Tournament, as he has before, at the end of the season. England v Scotland v Wales v R.o.W. All welcome, even Billabong
  6. Now I know you are only joking - I thought your comments were serious for a minute All this from someone whose country doesn't even have a National Anthem
  7. Another ridiculous comment seen too many times in the past few weeks on the forum. 1 - You must have had a boring World Cup supporting a team that wasn't even riding. Sorry to have to break the news to you, but it was Team GB (not England). 2 - "Never been to Scotland or Wales" (capital letters please) - "don't really want to either!" - very mature and grown up comments 3 - Yes, the riders were all English and that's fine - England produce the best riders in the UK. Down here in Wales, we supported Team GB, I'm sure the majority did. You have to remember that this is Speedway we are talking about, not football. 4 - You state "im english" -(I think you mean "I'm English") - well thank goodness for that - we wouldn't want you to be Welsh and I'm sure the Scots wouldn't want you either If the teams were seperated into England, Scotland, and Wales, then obviously that would be different, and we would all support our own nations, but until then, I'd assumed that we all supported the one team, called Team GB. At Carmarthen, we have been running in the past a 4 Nations tournament with England, Scotland, Wales and Rest of the World teams made up of PL and CL level riders - hopefully we can do the same again at the end of this season. Billabong, at least you'd be able to support your team then
  8. What a stupid comment - If there were five Scottish, Irish or Welsh riders, would we be calling them Scotland, Ireland or Wales - no, because it's TEAM GB.
  9. To those writing "sour grapes" - what rubbish. I think you're missing the point. Fans don't mind losing when it's fair and square, and I think P.K would still have beaten Scott Nicholls withouts the "Hans of God" in heat 25. Great Britain did benefit from a couple of refereeing decisions tonight, but I feel that there is a difference being lucky from a couple of poor decisions by the ref, than benefitting from the intentional riding actions of a rider from a different team. Swedish fans should slam Andersen also. They did not need Andersens help to win the World Cup, as I say, the way P.K was riding, he would have done it off his own back anyway. Andersens actions must surely have taken some of the gloss off their victory.
  10. Congratulations to Sweden and well done to Great Britain on a superb performance, I hope that "muppet" with the camera that cost Scott NIcholls a point feels bad now. As for Hans Andersen, as well as becoming another Pedersen with his dangerous riding, he shuts off to allow P.K to pass him - disgraceful. In his interview with Sophie he said he didn't see P.K !! - he only looked across twice down the back straight - don't think so Hans
  11. Some great racing, the best Sky meeting I've seen all season. Superb entertainment throughout, especially with those passes from A.J (through the eye of a needle), Gollob and Kolodziej (last bend, last lap) to name three Well done to the Poles and Gollob, for ensuring that the daft joker ruling didn't affect the outcome of heat 25 and the overall result, with the best two teams going through on the night.
  12. Well done to Jarek Hampel on finishing 2nd and to Greg Hancock on showing Pedersen how to race hard but fair.
  13. The subject came up yesterday, and after speaking to a referee was told that Gollob was ok to ride in the re-run with a broken mudguard (presumably because of the time constraints put upon him), but would have to have it replaced by the time of his next programmed ride.
  14. Actually, the following are taken from the speedway regulations (2000 edition but I assume they still apply): Section 11.39: Mudguards must project laterally beyond the tyre on each side. Section 11.40: A front mudguard must extend at least 5degrees ahead of a vertical line running through the centre of the front wheel axle & for an "upright" engine overlap the top edge of the engine guard by at least 5 degrees. A rear mudguard must extend at least 5 degrees behind a vertical line running through the centre of the rear axle. Section 11.40.1: Both front & rear mudguards must not have sharp edges. They must be made of material that will not cause injuries when deformed. etc. So Nikki has every right to complain if the regulations are not adhered to. Apologies for incorrectly stating that Gollob ran without a mudguard (instead of a broken mudguard) and thanks Liontamer for reminding me of Section 11.39 & 11.40 of the regulations , but the point I was trying to make was that mudguard or not, the result between Gollob and Pedersen would have been no different, and that sometimes accepting defeat gracefully is better than coming across as a bad loser.
  15. Just thinking the same thing. It would be good to see Pedersen in a post-match interview where he doesn't blame something / someone else for his failures. Last night, it was the ref for allowing Gollob to ride without a mudguard . If he admits that he is simply beaten fair & square from time to time, I'm sure that he would find that he is criticised less by the public.
  16. Although it was unfortunate that Hampel decided to let his fellow countryman through to gain a race-off for 3rd place, how did Hampel actually "CHEAT" to become champion ? From what Anders said, it seems that Hampel was far & away the best rider on the day & DESERVED to be champion. Well Done Jarek.
