As a youngster I never had the opportunity to go to speedway, but I can remember the name Split Waterman being probably the first I ever knew of a speedway rider
-
The rider excluded was the one who fell, not the one who caused him to fall It wasn’t the referee’s best ever decision

Grand Prix changes
Midland Red replied to baiden's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
How do you come to the opinion that it “is perfect”? -
Brandon always staged a donkey race (“one lap, carrot start”) plus rider interviews and fireworks

So many sports stars have chosen the number 23 over the years in tribute to the legend that is Jamie Carragher
-
Those I’ve seen: 1. Peter Craven 2. Peter Collins 3. Michael Lee 4. Tai Woffinden 5. Mark Loram 6. Gary Havelock Wish the list was longer, but then I’d be even older than I am now If Jack Parker qualifies, I did see him ride at Hackney in 1978, so he would creep in at no.7 as he didn’t look that good

This year under Buster has been so good they will be having sandwiches instead of biscuits No doubt there will be even more discussion on the make up of these than there was on the choice of biscuits
-
And they already have their own Shoveller

I believe Sudden Sam tried to say “very much so” tonight in the under 21 meeting, but it came out as “very so” Actually, overall tonight he wasn’t bad, and Dave Rowe was excellent

I met Ivor Brown a few times in later life when he played bowls for Loughborough BC - a very quiet and polite gentleman, always a pleasure to meet Of course, when he rode for Cradley Heath in his pristine white jersey, off track he wore a pristine white coat when behind the counter of his store in Wymeswold

Interesting list - well done How many of those couldn’t race in the UK on a Friday and Saturday night? -

Those would be the fans who find it difficult or impossible to attend on a Monday or a Thursday, when their regular night was a Friday or Saturday, and they and their kids could attend The fixed nights only really suited fans of teams who always used to race on a Monday or a Thursday - and of course those teams didn’t ride on both nights, so even then some (say) Thursday regulars would be missing on the Monday, and vice versa -
I think many people did actually see that decision, before, during and after the event Haven’t read many comments in favour of the choice

Serious question - in what way was it flawed? -
I couldn’t do her job - but I don’t think N Q is really very good Brandon is embarrassing on screen, may well do a good job behind the scenes Tatum is ok, knowledgable and has strong points of view, and can be amusing Pearson is . . . . best not say! Rowe and Goddard are poor but an improvement on Pearson Ermolenko is actually quite amusing as you await his standard mis-pronunciations and odd phrases And the foreign lady interviewer is probably very nice, but why is she used?

Kelvin would probably improve if divorced from Sir Shoutalot
